[When Jack appears on camera, he looks about as haggard as mostly everyone is feeling on board the Tranquility right now. Where he might normally be tossing around flirtatious comments and easy smiles, at the moment Jack Harkness is all business. He has an announcement to make, and an important one.]

Hey. Captain Jack Harkness here. Listen up, Tranquility, because I’ve got an announcement to make, and I really only want to say this once.

Remember that machine we found a few days ago? It’s a nanotech extraction machine. I won’t go into the science behind it but the gist of it is that the presence of a second form of nanotechnology, separate from that native to the ship, is what’s behind these mutations, this sickness, the whole lot of it. And this machine [Jack runs a hand across it] can scan, identify the different types of nanites, and remove the foreign one. Once the foreign nanite is removed, the ship’s nanite and our medbay team here should be able to get you back to normal. But that’s where we’re gonna need your cooperation.

[Somewhere in the background, an exhausted but insistent voice pipes up:] Tell ‘em not to be assholes about it.

[Jack lets out a bark of a laugh, before sobering.] The medical team here is already handling the passengers here in the medbay with the most need. From there, we’re gonna form a queue. Yes, a queue. And no, it doesn’t matter where you are in line, everyone will get treated before the jump, so if we see you pushing, trying to cut, or creating a hassle for any of us up here, we will throw you to the back of the line. No exceptions. Everyone here is sick, everyone wants treatment. We’ll get to you, we promise. Until then, head down to the medbay, start lining up, and be patient. [He looks over his shoulder in the direction of the other voice.] Good?

[There’s a pause, but then the other speaker stands up into view. Here’s the sweat-sheen and half-translucent face of Raven Reyes as she steps up to lean into the frame. Her voice is tired, but their success so far has her in at least a decent mood, so she tries to sound patient:]

You probably don’t need me to tell you this, but I’m saying it anyway: This isn’t ‘you break it, you buy it’. This is ‘you break it, we all die and whoever shows up next Jump gets to clean the mysterious blood-slick off half the walls and floors’. So don’t do anything stupid, okay? [She doesn’t even know what kind of ‘anything stupid’ she’s warning off, but with this many people, someone’s always going to have a bad idea and an itch to see it through.]

((ooc note: anyone interested in playing out the extraction/healing from extraction should tag in here, in the new log created for the organization of exactly that!!))

No kidding. [ part of her wants to point out that it wouldn't have gone down like this without his help, but she'd be too tired for sap even if sap were in her usual repertoire. ]

Has anyone told you that you've got impeccable timing.

[ In turn, he's too exhausted to feel much of anything beyond that in itself. His voice is rough, and flat enough that rhetorical query sounds like a statement. ]

What's the process entail? The scanning and extraction.

Heard it once or twice. [ usually after she's set a really big explosive on one or more grounders back on earth, but technicalities.

he can't see her shaking her head a little, but she is, a sort of half-helpless gesture. she's no doctor - the mechanical bullshit, that was her thing. not the actual operation of it. but she'll try:
] Five minutes, give or take. You go in sick and you come out bleeding, but it's working so far. [ spoken as a distant observer - it's pretty clear she hasn't gone through it herself yet, but she's still got a couple of days and she's not so worried. ]

[ Charles can extrapolate from there. It comes up through the skin. No one's mentioned excessive amounts of eye gore, so that's promising. ]

Charming. I'll have everyone at this end there soon, with bells on.

[ He can still manage wryness. ]

I'll send 'em right through. [ through to medical, not through the machine. she's making tracks to park outside the door as they speak. ]

I'll spare you the old man response.

[ This time. ]

I'd like to know the science part of things, if you've time for a run through when all's said and done, or if you've data to send my way. Or both. Records keeping, and all that.

[ Here in Xenogen, we love paperwork. ]

Jesus.

I can help if you need anyone to keep people in line.

[Much as he prefers face-to-face interaction, Firo sticks with text. Though he's avoided checking, he's afraid of what he might look like after all this.]

You'd get better behavior right off the bat if you kicked out any troublemakers for good.
