005- Text

If anyone missed it. Wheatley is gone.

Does anyone know what happens when we vanish from here?

[She's still not sure how to feel about this. She got to punch him once at least. And the stuff he left behind....well that reminds her.

Well the chirping turret behind her reminds her.]

Unrelated: Does anyone know the story of Prometheus? Something about gods and being pecked by birds.

prometheus. dude who gave fire to humanity and was punished by the gods by being chained to a rock for all eternity and got his kidney pecked out of his by birds every day.

every night it would regrow, only for the birds to peck the new one out of him the next day.

nope, pretty sure it was fire.
i mean i guess the argument could be made that fire was more of a metaphor but...

he sort of became a champion for the quest for scientific knowledge. the dark side of it, tho. going too far. i know there was some reference made to him in relation to the book frankenstein

Most people seem to think we go back to where we came from, but I don't think anyone really knows for sure.

[Okay, okay, text then:]

I think it's got something to do with the people who wake up with new memories, but I honestly don't have any idea.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I know other people have asked similar questions, so maybe try digging through the network archive a little.

I mean it's a nicer thought that most of the other alternatives I can think of.

Pretty sure we aren't dead.

No guarantees on the second one.

It does. I mean not here, strictly, but it totally does. And you can mostly do whatever you want here, so there's that.

But believe me. I get it.

Not physically exactly, but yeah. More or less.

[Question about mythology? Oh, she's all over that!]

He stole fire from the gods. They were pretty grumpy about it.

It was he knowledge of fire. People like to use it as a metaphor, but the fact is fire improved the mortals' lives. If he did anything wrong, and it's not my place to judge, it was stealing the knowledge rather than letting them figure it out at their own pace.

Herakles slew the eagle and broke his chains. Prometheus repaid him in prophecy.

I am totally making this up

He knew that humans had moved beyond needing his help. He stuck to the sidelines, never really made a big stir. Not really the best comparison for the average mad scientist.
