Not that I mind being let off the ship every now and again, as that provides a great little vacation from this place... But must it always be so...

[He looks like he's having trouble finding the right words... and instead of continuing that train of thought? He simply lets it linger... and after a long pause, he continues:]

Regardless! Let me instead pose this question: Would anyone be willing to teach me how to cook a bit better than I currently can? Variety is the spice of life, after all, and there's only so much I am capable of doing so far. I am willing to trade this knowledge for lessons in fencing, if anyone's so inclined to do so.

I would care to think you are already impressed and continue to be...

[He chuckles a little, raising his eyebrow.]

[A soft snort and a downturn of his head, unable to continue the joke any further, the embarrassment having caught up to him.]

Something more than what I know how to-- which is very little. Anything you could teach me would be much appreciated.

Keep it in mind. I can't guarantee you that his recipes will be to your taste, but what's the chance that we have the ingredients for foods that are to anyone's tastes, here?

As far as the fencing goes, that's not a problem. In fact, I may be able to teach you a few things in exchange.

I got a few lessons from my uncle, when I was younger. I could show you a few things, and I'd be interested in the trade.
