[The video transmitter clicks on with a view of the ceiling, until Luke picks it up and rotates it to show his face. He looks tired and perhaps like he only woke up a few minutes ago.]

Does anyone on board know how to get rid of certain dreams? There's one I've been having night after night-- well, I suppose it's more of a nightmare. It's getting harder and harder to sleep.

Fa- uh, Dad. [He's still not used to calling anyone that and it's difficult to get into the mindset that he can address someone he hardly knows so casually.] Maybe you can help me. I don't know if there are any Jedi techniques that can help with dreams but someone else was talking to me about meditation. Maybe that would work? I don't know. At this point I'll try just about anything. I just want it to stop.

A lot of people find music helps. So that you aren't on the same topic as you go to sleep.

I hear ya. I don't know how many more sleepness nights I can take. They may not want me back in the gunnery until I can stop hallucinating.

among those i know, many are able to choose what they see when they sleep. i am unsure how to explain the method itself, but perhaps it is something to be explored.

i can try. i have never known it to be possible for men to walk their dreams, but together we might attempt something of the like. perhaps it will be of some help.

Walk their dreams? Does that require some sort of magic? I'm strong in the Force but I don't know how to use most of my powers yet.

I keep watching Biggs die over and over again. It gets worse every time. Last night I could see his face and hear him screaming.

Someone told me that it can help with a lot of things but I've never tried it before. I wouldn't know where to start, but I think my father can help me.

i am unsure of this force you speak of. but it is not magic, i think, unless what you would call magic includes great will and control of one's mind and body.

No, I wouldn't call that magic but that's a big part of the Force. I think I'd like to meet you.

It's probably worth a try. A lot of dreaming is about what state your mind was in when you go to sleep.

At the very least, dreams here have nothing to do with any anthropomorphic personifications getting dumped.

There's a common area on level 25 that is usually pretty quiet. I'm not in the gunnery today so I can meet you there in an hour.

Uh-- actually, yeah. Last month a guy was handing out food with it baked right in. Said it might help the side effects of the engineering run. Personally, I think he was just making things up to get everyone high. It was funny, at least.

[Eye roll.]

If you want to go get a drink so badly then you could have just said so but I still don't think it's going to help.

action; about an hour later in the level 25 common area

It's even quieter than Luke thought it'd be. There's an entire corner with sofas and a few tables that's completely empty. Luke scans the room for a person... actually, he realizes that he knows almost nothing about this person. So he looks for someone who also appears to be looking for someone.

Hm. Hindsight. Might have been a good idea to at least give them a name and a rough physical description. Oh well, he'll just have to ask everyone who walks in if they're here about dreams. He might get a few funny looks but hopefully when this person arrives they'll be able to help.

He settles down on a sofa in the corner to wait.

action; a few minutes later

It takes a little longer than an hour to make it to the common area on foot, apparently, and Mairon sweeps in with light boot treads, moving too fluidly for someone of his height. Like a man with a purpose, he looks around the room for company before zeroing in on the lone one in the corner.

Mairon recognizes him.

"Master Luke, is it not?" He smiles reflexively. A walker of the sky, if he recalls correctly. It wasn't his imagination then when the Force sounded somewhat familiar. The woes of having an endless memory. "I thought I knew your voice."

[last_ofthe_jedi]

Luke isn't sure what he was expecting but this man is far more... imposing than Luke had imagined he might be. He finds himself even more taken aback when the man somehow seems to know him.

He stands reflexively, out of respect mostly, but he also looks quite a bit bewildered. "Sorry, I don't remember meeting you before. How do you know my name?"

[lordof]

"Another time, another place." He looks a tad apologetic. Just a tad. Partly confused, but after everything that's happened here, there's very little that could truly surprise him. "Passengers come and go, frequently. Sometimes more than once."

Mairon makes his way over in the meantime, pulling a seat up across from the younger man to sit down in.

"My apologies if it seemed.. alarming." The apology is a little distant, more like a formality than sincerity. "I am named Mairon. We spoke briefly when I first arrived-- or rather.. I spoke with the Luke Skywalker that was here before you, if you truly do not recall it."
