[ VIDEO. ] never seen one without the other(s).
[ the feed starts to complete blackness — it resolves itself into a clearer picture of a leather uniform once aramis steps back, though he also just so happens to be upside down. at least aramis has learned enough in his days aboard the tranquility so far that he notices and fixes it a moment later, leaving it lopsided, but the right way around.
he steps back a little further, coming to stand next to porthos. they are both armed, swords strapped to their sides, and not in the ship's jumpsuits but rather in their leather uniforms.
aramis holds a pistol, considering it. his voice is thoughtful. ]
They do say I am quite good with these.
[ porthos, for his part, is still staring suspiciously at the sleek looking square on his end. but he lets up long enough to add - ]
Finest in all of France, I’d wager. The better to serve their Majesties, King Louis XIII and Queen Anne.
[ it’s a spiel they’ve been through before. aramis’ eyes narrow. ] Speaking of their Majesties — if they are here as well, rest assured that we will find them and not look kindly on anyone who has committed treason and harmed them.
[ there’s a gruff hemm of his throat, before porthos adds; ] And if you’ve done likewise with two men who go by Athos and D’Artagnon, it may not be treason, but we’ll be looking just as unkindly.
[ aramis smiles at that, cheerful almost despite the dangerous edge to it. ] To those who are likewise captives, we swear to aid you where we can.
[ and he tips his head. ]
( blue is aramis, black is porthos! musketeers in space, aw yeah!! )

I am glad to learn that you have found a friend here, still it is unfortunate that he is now trapped here just the same as you or I. [She tilts her head politely towards Porthos, whom she has not met yet.]
I would not know if your King or Queen are aboard, or either of your other two friends, as I at least have not heard those names before. But I am sure that if they are here, you shall reunite soon.
video;
Thank you for your information. And for the aid, earlier.

( the smile is almost instinctive, now. )

We are indeed. Though some have been here longer than others - longer than me, surely. But I would not oppose to finding out whatever we can about the ship together.
video;
Then that is what we shall do.

( trying for humour and mostly managing just fine. )

Still, it is nice that you have someone dear and close to you on the ship as well. Often times the journey can become very lonely.

( someone needs to protect the king and queen, after all. )

[Curiously, she asks.] What is it like?
Re: video;
( his tone insinuates that they are fine friends already, aren't they? and so the intimacy is perfectly acceptable. )
It's — quite crowded, and you will find both the richest of people and the poorest there. The very best of humanity, and its worst.

Porthos du Vallon. And better to be here, mademoiselle, in order to keep him out of trouble. [That's a lie; they're both going to get into trouble.]
no subject
no subject
no subject
( and that other time. and the one before that. )
video;
That is for the better indeed. I have been here for little over a month and it has been uneventful, but I know that is not always the case.
[She tilts her head forward.] You are well met, my Lord Porthos. I am Éowyn, of the kingdom of Rohan.

[Impudence being something he doesn't put too much thought into, except matters of knowing one's place (usually since others will quickly remind him.)]
In the countries close to us they use similar titles to those in France, but in their own language. I have to admit, I never considered anyone using anything else.

[ But such manners are weaved into her character due to her upbringing, and it is difficult to part with them, though she has conceded to one people or two so far. ]
France - it is your country, then? What is such a place like?
video;
And Paris - there is no finer city in the whole world. I'm sure of it, even if I haven't seen them all. It's the hub of so much that goes on in the world.
video;
[ Not that she has visited it beyond stories and books, but it being a capital, and Porthos calling it the center of activity somewhat reminds her of Minas Tirith, or perhaps Osgiliath when it had once been the capital of Gondor. ]
