If you lose your memories, is it possible for them to ever come back?

the memories were stored in archives. my father had to do some programming to unearth them after they'd been supposedly reformatted.

I don't have personal experience, but it's possible for amnesia to clear up and for memories to come back to someone. But, I also know sometimes, those memories never come back.

It would rather depend on how and why they were lost in the first place. Full or partial recovery might be possible. Why do you ask? [He has a pretty good idea why someone would ask, but let's just get as much into the open as we can, right?]

Usually not without some form of treatment.

i only did a little stint in psychiatry but at least back on earth, amnesia, fugue states, and other dissociative disorders do sometimes spontaneously remit on their own.

etiological research suggests that people sometimes develop these disorders cuz some shit happened theyd really rather not remember, though.

loads of variation. some people forget everything including their name and childhood, other people lose a few weeks. that all falls under retrograde amnesia. anterograde amnesia is this whole other thing.

Sorry this is happening to you. we might be able to help you in medical, actually, if you fancy coming in. some chance organic damage might be responsible, and we can do things aboard the tq that aren't possible in plenty of other worlds.

sometimes something familiar can trigger a memory in your subconscious.
i mean thats what i hear ive never actually seen it done myself.
im sure there is a doctor aboard who may be able to help

hard to find something familiar if you don't remember anything.

you think the doctors here would know about getting memories back?

surely somebody here knows you and could also help you regain memory loss!

It is possible, yes. I believe there are treatments for things like that.
