[ the communicators aren't that different from the phones that used to be on earth, but wanderer is still having trouble getting used to it -- she'd been out of civilization more than she was in it, and hadn't had to use a phone in more than a year. she's spent a half hour messing with the thing, looking it over and testing its various functions before she feels comfortable enough with it to start up a post of her own.

at first the video is completely off-center, showing a view of wanda's shoulder rather than her face, but she corrects that quickly, offering a sheepish smile to the camera. her eyes look subtly luminous, not quite normal human eyes, but not so different that she doesn't think she should show her face. ]

Hello. I'm sorry to bother you all, but I had a question -- there was some medicine in my locker that I don't need. Is there a medical facility of some kind here? I would prefer to put it to good use than get rid of it. I can show you how to use it, if need be, though it's rather simple. The names should really give it all away. Yes, Dr. McCoy said that I should bring them to him! I didn't realize that the medical facility was where we all woke up in the pods, I feel a little foolish for having to ask.

Don't. This place is a serious mindfuck, especially when you first get here; I don't think anyone cares what part of the ship they're in when they're spit out. As long as you get them the medicine, that's all that matters.

[ this is possibly the first time wanda has ever heard anyone use the word fuck. if she were in melanie's body, she likely wouldn't have any reaction at all -- melanie heard the word all the time, before the souls came and with jared -- but the body hasn't ever heard it and it causes her to blush and giggle into her hand before she can move on. ] Yes, I plan to! I'm glad. I've heard some stories... But it's comforting to know that the people here are just like the people I knew back home. We all wanted to help each other, too. We weren't kidnapped, but we were a small community, and we all had to contribute to keep it thriving. Is it the same here?

It's... similar. Obviously there are the shitheads that don't want to do anything but help themselves, no matter the cost, but overall? It's a pretty decently helpful community here.
