As for your earlier question, I'd probably consider them like real people if I ever had a conversation with one. Especially if it was like terminator-level robot intelligence. He was a killer but he functioned pretty independently and made decisions to achieve his goals.
That sounds about right, but VIs can do that too. Y'know, if they're all virus'd up.
AIs are more like- y'know, more like organics. They contemplate their place in the universe, blah blah, philosophical thoughts, morals, big picture. That sort of thing.

I dunno, the second you acknowledge a race as a real thing, the second everyone's got to figure out how to kill it in case it starts a war. Always goes that way.

When you describe it like that it's hard to see them as anything less than people. A lot of different kind of people nayway, why not include AIs.
