[ Once again, Carolyn is in front of the only known windows on the ship, aka the ones in the shuttle bay. Once again, she gets a good shot of all the stars and general blackness before turning the camera to her face. And once again, Carolyn looks downright exhausted. ]
You're in space. If you're new to the Tranquility, my name is Carolyn Fry. I work down in the shuttle bay and if you're interested in helping out down here [ and judging by the tone of her voice, you should be ] come talk to me. No previous experience necessary, though if you're going to be an idiot, you're not allowed. No trying to hijack one either; [ Mass Effect cast ] there's not enough fuel to get back to wherever you came from [ which probably isn't even in this universe, morons ] and Casey has no problems breaking your neck.
[ Shortest flight crew ad ever, for real. ]
If you're new to the Tranquility or space travel, I hold classes. The previous lessons have been recorded so that you can watch them. If anyone has any questions or suggestions for future classes, I'm all ears.
[ Look! A handy link! ]
As I'm sure you've all noticed, the memories from the previous jump have decided to change. Judging by what I saw, they're from the previous crew. [ A pause. ] If anyone's face doesn't look... right, like it has oil underneath it, it might be a good idea to secure them before they apparently try to eat you or rip you apart with their talon-hands. And if anyone has hallucinations, it's probably not a good idea to go dropping your weapon and following them. If we're lucky, these memories will stay memories, but I don't recall our luck here ever being anything but bad.
[ There's a pause and Carolyn rubs her face. Suddenly, this post takes a turn for the awkward. ]
Also, someone left some tools outside of my door? Uh, thanks. I think.

[ check it, he's even gonna ELABORATE ]
None of 'em do. Prisoners forfeit certain rights, being handled gently's one of them. [ he's quoting on the first bit, and it's obvious. ] Six months ago, I would've said they wouldn't bring any along at all, but I guess I learned my lesson there.

Is it possible she was maybe a new prisoner? Someone they picked up along the way? Judging by the first transmission we found of Gallagher's, they had some travel before they got to the first jump point.
voice »
[ a beat. ]
Means they'd just set off, maybe a couple days into it. I'd say they couldn't have stopped either way, but it's a bad bet.

[ and lbr here, getting convicted doesn't usually happen if you have that kind of leverage. ]

[ justice: just a checkbook away! ]
The woman— Matine? Called her 'his prisoner'. Gallagher's, I mean. Only way it'd make sense, anyway.
voice »
[ yay justice!!11 ]
His prisoner specifically. [ that's uh. ] Is that common?
voice »
[ ie: yeah, he only knew rich people. ]
Against the regs, pulling something like that. Rank's got privilege, but if he tugged somebody off their first shift to watch her alone it'd get marked down.
...she said he wasn't supposed to see it. Makes me think it wasn't on-book.

[ and then absently. ]
Makes sense Gallagher picked him for it, though. Ward.
voice »
[ It's half-mumbled, but as soon as Joe adds on something about Ward, she's immediately alert again. ]
What do you mean?
voice »
voice »
Why does it make sense with rank?
voice »
You want something like this done quiet? No officers, no new recruits. Staff sergeant's like him's just experienced enough to be good, not enough clout to make trouble later.
voice »
... Wouldn't they?
voice »
voice »
[ ... wait a minute. ]
You said it was Schue and Matine speaking. How do you know Ward isn't a talker?
voice »
[ with a shrug that's nearly audible: ]
Met him a couple weeks back. Like I said, he didn't talk much.
voice »
You met him? [ EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING ] What happened? Tell me everything.

Nobody saw either of them, when they had those shared dreams last year. Some of them even went looking.
