[The feed cuts on to reveal a smiling redhead who looks a wee bit too happy given the situation.]

So I gotta say, for a bunch of folks who've been kidnapped and are stuck on a creepy alien spaceship [her grin grows a little here here because seriously this is too freaking cool and why do the rest of you not see this?!?] you all are pretty organized. At first when I showed up I figured I'd probably spend the rest of, well, ever trying to figure out where I was and what was going on…

[A pause and she bites at her lower lip before looking a touch sheepish.]

Actually, that's not entirely true. First I figured that the Winchesters were somehow responsible because, well, Winchesters... and come on, let's face it. Hanging with those guys is like playing a really creepy game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. With monsters. And likely death. [The obviously fake smile is back.] But then I did a little digging and what do you know? Handy-dandy 411 posts, at your service! [A beat, as she draws a breath. She's still grinning brightly.] Really, you all, super impressed here. Still kinda freaked out, pretty concerned my life's reached a point where all of this doesn't make me question my sanity and... Oh! I'm Charlie, bee tee dubs. Charlie Bradbury. For the record. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

[The video feed cuts off then immediately flickers back on. This time, the feed is locked like whoa to Dean and Sam Winchester. Charlie's bright, perky, totally fake smile has been replaced with an authentic grin and the slight arching of an eyebrow. She gives a little wave.]

Miss me, bitches?

[Madam...you are far too perky.]

It is kind of you to say so, Ms. Bradbury; we have been fortunate in the fact that we have several highly competent individuals on-board. You are...adjusting?

[A very unsure kid with a mess of hair and a split, swollen lip looks at the video feed with a little confusion — he clearly has no idea what's going on here, but someone's messaging him, and they're completely and utterly unfamiliar. He's too morbidly quiet and still a bit melancholy, but at least that's muffled slightly by the wrinkle of his brow and squared shoulder look he's sporting.]

Sorry — what?

[Sup, I'm a 22-year-old baby, how's it feel to be the older one.]

[ spike's face is kind of one big bruise atm but it won't stop him from a strangely lopsided smile as he thinks he recognizes someone. ]

Slow down, luv. [ charlie though?? ] What about Kevin Bacon?

[Oh look. It's someone in a position of authority. Sorta. But it's okay. She can behave. For now.]

I don't think it's kind, just honest. And yep, I'm adjusting just fine, thanks! [a pause] Mister...? [Because while she could likely go digging and figure it out, it's just easier this way.]

[Several emotions flicker across Charlie's face at the sight of Sam. First there's relief that he's still on board. Then there's concerned, followed instantly by anger, at the condition he looks to be in. After that comes the confusion at him not knowing who she is, and then understanding dawns on her as she finally sees past his injuries to how ridiculously young he looks.]

Seriously? [a beat] Seriously? [She sighs.] Okay, hi. So... wow, awkward. Uh. I know you. Or, at least, I will know you. Both you and your brother. [She smiles softly, fondly.] I sorta help you all out a couple of times.

[She shakes her head and refocuses on him.]

And obviously, you don't know anything about that because it hasn't happened for you yet. So... like I said. Awkward.

Miles Edgeworth. Security team. May I assume, given that you have familiarized yourself with the introductory materials - [To say nothing of her familiarity with the Winchesters - ] You are familiar with the function and purpose of our team and how we may assist you?

[Charlie blinks and tries to get her brain to back up a few steps. That's the problem with arguably being the smartest person in the room. Your mind tends to move from subject to subject at a speed that's akin to a starving hummingbird. Backtracking isn't as easy as it sounds.

She manages, though, and grins slightly in embarrassment as she explains.]

I was just making a reference to that game. You know, six degrees of Kevin Bacon? Except when it comes to my friends, it's less where's the connection to Meryl Streep and more what monster is going to show up and try to murder me in the face this week.

[A pause.]

Unless you don't know about that kind of stuff, in which case I don't know what I'm talking about and you should probably just ignore the crazy girl.

[ he's not ignoring her - far from. but he does jump topics: ] Charlie?

Ah. Well, thanks, Mister Miles Edgeworth. [Has she mentioned that authority figures make her kinda twitchy? Yeah. It's okay. She can do this. She can play nice.]

Yeah, I think I've got that figured out. It also looks like you guys stay awfully busy around here. Never a dull moment, huh? [Making small talk. She's trying, at least.]

[That's an awful familiar sounding 'Charlie' coming from someone she isn't sure she recognizes. She frowns lightly, inches closer to the screen. Nope. Still not placing him.

Her tone's wary because, seriously, have you seen her life lately?]

That'd be me.

[ she sounded sure of the name. her hair was longer but it had been over a year... spike sighed. just another space face stealer, he supposed. ]

Sorry. Thought I recognized you.

[A bit brusquely:]

On the contrary. The vast majority of troubles which face us are those which likewise face the ship at large. As such, they are cyclical, as they are for others.

[Oh great. More future.

... Dammit, Sam, that's fucking rude; she's stuck here, she's gonna be a friend? Then stop with the depressing dance and try to be nice here. He struggles to put on anything other than a generic, thin smile, because that's better than just staring at her like she has two heads.]

No, it's fine, it's fine — I mean, I've met other people from the future, too. Cas was here, and, uh. I've met a friend named Jo. And there's others around. So it's okay, really.

What was your name again? You know me and all.

[He's been too busy acting like a wet blanket to see the other part of the transmission. Visions, dead girlfriend and dad, being a failure, becoming an asshole in the future. He's having a hard time balancing it and stuff.]

[Well that's good to now. Not that she acknowledges as much. She just nods.]

Cyclical. You don't say. Interesting.

[Cool and calm. She can do this.

For about three seconds, then she's grinning again.]

Whelp, it's gonna prove to be interesting, at least.

[If ever there was a time Charlie's grateful to have read the books by Carver Edlund, it's now. If he's from before he met Jo, or Cas, that at least helps her to know what she's dealing with.]

Oh! Charlie. I'm Charlie. And we won't meet for a couple of years, from the sound of it. It's this whole end of the world thing that you guys are so good at dealing with.

[Awkward.]

So Cas isn't still here, then? [Drats. One of these days, she's going to actually get to meet this guy. Angel. Whatever.]

[Huh.]

Okay then. You, um, want to give me a name to go with your [a hesitation and slightly embarrassed grin] really bruised face?

... Nah, he vanished. Sometimes people just — go back home. [Won't meet for a couple years? He figures wherever she's from, things are still in a bad place. Especially if she's mentioning... world saving...]

We do that a lot? Seriously...?

[He's heard of one time. A time he thought involved his father. Killing yellow eyes, helping stop the apocalypse. He's tried not to ask any questions about it, ever since... well. Ever since he's learned too much, things he maybe would erase from his memory now, if he could. It'd do him no good here to think about it all.

It hurts.

He smiles again, the usual Sam thing — smile, try to fade into a background, end up that kid old ladies and mothers think is so polite and well-mannered. It's weird to apply titles like that to himself, when he's had a secret life of killing monsters. Once upon a time, Dean and Dad would have probably agreed with those people. Now...

"Or did you think we could both be blood sucking freaks at the same time?"

He tries not to think about it, right now.]

[ of all the faces to pop up on the communicators, charlie's is the best, most positive surprise dean's had in a long time. not that he exactly wishes space horrors on anyone, not even someone as overexcited about being stuck on this goddamn thing as charlie, but dean can't help the smile, the partial relief at seeing her. ]

You have absolutely no idea.

[ miss is putting it lightly. ]

Hey, Charlie. Found yourself in space, huh?

With respect, ma'am, I think "interesting" is entirely the wrong word. You're aware of the danger here, correct? The threats you will be facing?

[Although she doesn't quit grinning, it's obvious there's a slight shift in her demeanor. A dampening of the light in her expression, so to speak. Her tone is decidedly flatter as well.]

Yep, definitely aware. I'd even be worried if danger hadn't already become the norm for me, oh, a couple of Winchesters ago.

[Her smile turns decidedly thinner.]

And thanks for trying to correct my choice in words but I'm sticking by what I said.

[Okay, before they go any further - ]

Ms. Bradbury, if you are attempting to force a cheerful demeanor for my benefit, kindly stop. It merely makes you sound rather demented.

[Oh. Oh good. He knows who she is. Charlie's grin grows.]

Oh please. Like I was going to let you two have all of the fun. Who do you take me for, Winchester?

[There's a pause before she lets out a puff of air.]

Totally wasn't going to bring it up but, oh, screw it. [She draws in a deep breath and faces the camera directly, concern etched upon her face.] What's the deal with Sam?

[Charlie snorts. She can't help it. Yeah, she's decided she really doesn't care what he thinks.]

Wow, do you go around calling all of the new arrivals demented just because they aren't reacting the way you think they should? Super people skills, there. What, a girl can't be excited to be kidnapped to a place where excitement and adventure are guaranteed? Who're you to judge me, anyway?

[She's still grinning but there's an edge to it.]

Seriously. If you're just looking to troll, move on along. It's not going to work here.

[And he matches her with a deep frown. Not that this is a new development, really. "Frown" is pretty much the default for him.]

Define the term "troll."

[Now her grin is definitely more of a smirk. They're on her turf, now. Internet slang, for the win.]

Somebody who goes out of his way to start an argument with somebody else, usually in a forum type setting, typically with the intent of inciting a negative response.

[She shrugs ever so slightly.]

It's only loosely applied in this instance but my point still stands.
