[Eponine appears on the network, obviously a little panicked about something. She had been trying to reach Jehan, but unfortunately, she was not adept enough at technology to filter it to him.]

Monsieur? Monsieur, I have done a bad thing - but we are friends, are we not? You will not listen to the Inspector, will you? We will still be friends, won't we?

[Impatiently, she pushed her messy fringe out of her eyes.]

He is a horrible man, you know. He deserved it, I think. [She shrugged and sighed]

I wish he were gone; life here, even when I bled from my eyes, was pleasant before he came. I do not think it will remain so now.

Monsieur - you saw. I have found I made a mistake trying to send a message to you.

[She shakes her head sorrowfully.]

Sir, I have been ridiculous. I threw a bowl of soup over his head because he annoyed me so. I do not quite know how I dared to do it, only I have always longed to see such a horrible man covered in dirt and I had the bowl of soup - and he did lock me away for nothing, you know? But, well. He has said he will make my life hell now.

I doubt this was intended for myself, Mademoiselle Eponine, but if you are being threatened or in danger, you will certainly have my aid. I would not be so infamous as to allow this man, this inspector, to harm you in any way. If you have need of my aid, though I've no doubt you can protect yourself quite well, a lady should not need to, come to me and I will do what I must.

No, it was meant only for Monsieur Prouvaire. But I have pressed the wrong button. He won't hurt me, Sir. Not much, anyway. He cannot catch me: I am too quick! I know the hiding places he cannot get to! But it is so goodof you, Monsieur Darnay, to say you will.

[Hi. Have a Jedi who not only has seen inside Javert's head but who also knows what it's like to not be very popular for upholding the law.

To her credit, Jaina's trying to keep both her tone and expression neutral. She doesn't want to attack this girl but she doesn't like the way she's making Javert sound either. The ship is too small for people's opinions to be so clouded, so quickly, by a story with far more than just one side to it.]

I'm pretty sure the Inspector was doing his job, not waging a personal war against you, sweetheart.

[Okay. So there's not as much neutrality in her tone as she would have liked. But at least she's not swearing or outright calling the girl a criminal. That's something, right?]
