[Initially, he was going to give a proper sort of introduction over the network; enough time had passed for him to "settle in", as it were, and he felt it necessary to pierce the veil of non-communication sooner or later.
But now, the point seemed rather moot, what with everyone's memories being tossed about the place. It appeared that the residents here were already forcibly getting to know each other a bit better.
Regardless, he settles for text.]
What does it feel like to have your most cherished memories, your most hated actions, your darkest secrets -- all potentially flitting about in the head of a complete stranger? Is it freeing? Humiliating? Or are you indifferent; what is a single memory without a lifetime of context, after all?
And as for those who would rather not wax philosophical: Hello, Tranquility. What a welcoming this is turning out to be.

No. Which is strange. I was with my older brother just before I was brought here.
no subject
Coincidental, perhaps, but interesting. The man whom I would call my elder brother was brought here along with me. However, I was not with him at the time.
no subject
How strange! I wonder why it chooses some of us, and not others.
My brother would be better-suited to this place than I.
[ she's unconvinced that her magic can seriously make a difference. ]
no subject
Another mystery to add to the growing list I presume. If there is a prerequisite of character for being brought here, I have not been told nor have I discovered it myself.
[He raises a brow, only slightly.] And why do you think so?
no subject
Nor have I. And neither do I know precisely why we have been brought here. I admit, I am curious.
[ and anxious to go home. she misses garrett. ]
[ she gives a little shrug. ] He is much more useful in a fight than I am. And he is a leader.
[ despite his ah, intense personality. ]

[ running from the templars, and all. ]
He is, yes. He was a soldier in the King's army, and was one of the few survivors of a terrible battle. Now he fights for his own cause.
[ a mercenary, sort of. it would be hard to explain. ]
no subject
And what of yourself? Are you unable to fight?
no subject
And you? Are you a warrior, like my brother?
no subject
I grew up in a land of warriors, but I consider myself a bit more refined than that. I also practice the art of magic.
no subject
I've never heard such an opinion before. Nor did I think I would meet another mage so quickly.
Are there schools of it, where you are from? For healing, or elemental spells, and so on?
no subject
I, myself, had personal tutors. Though my case was a bit different than most.
no subject
[ she is sorry for all the questions, but the very idea of having an actual school where magic can be taught and learned and then everyone can go home pretty amazing. ]
You are a noble, then? [ that would explain the personal tutors and potentially being special. ]
There aren't any schools for magic in Thedas. Only the Circles. Magic is taught in them, all right. But once you enter a Circle of Magi, you seldom leave.
They can be seen as-- [ no, bethany. be honest. ] I mean they are prisons.
no subject
[Loki does not mind the questions. He appreciates a curiosity to learn more.]
A prince. [It is stated simply. He was a prince at least. He supposes now he is more prisoner than Odinson; not that he wishes for the name any longer.]
And why place those inclined towards magic in these... 'Circles'?
no subject
And each mage is educated to specialize in the area there talent lies? That must be rewarding.
I suppose the Circle is a little like that. But the amount of spells, and areas of study are limited. I received my education from my father.
[ and here is bethany, not at all lacking in curiosity. ]
Oh.. I see. Should I be addressing you with your title, then? [ past or present, a prince is still a prince to her. just like in the case of sebastian vael. they might be stuck on a magical flying ship in the void, but if he wants to be addressed by his title, she's more than happy to oblige.
they need to cling to any semblance of normalcy they can get here. ]
Because like the knight-captain of the templars likes to remind us, mages are weapons. We aren't people like the folk who aren't mages are. Mages must be watched, else we might give into the temptation of blood magic or fall under possession by a demon.
[ her eyes are rolling so hard at remembering that dogma that they'd be falling out of her head if they could. and it's evident in her voice. ]
no subject
It seems to be universal that people fear what is more powerful than them. What they cannot control. [The demon part is interesting though.] Blood magic -- is that like dark magic?
no subject
[ bethany had hoped for otherwise when she had arrived here. but first thing, she had met a man who had been wary of her for her magic. she lets out a sigh. ]
I was hoping that only the people in Thedas were like that. I'm not surprised anymore. And it isn't like those who want to have all the control are any better than anyone else, either.
I don't know what dark magic is. Blood magic is drawing power from your own or others' blood in order to cast spells.
[ don't mind if she is a little hedgy on this topic. she's still trying to wrap her mind around someone like merill using it. ]
