[ it's been a considerably long time since frodo made any contact with the network. times before he asked for companions, questions on stories, but instead there is silence. it's no secret he's kept much to him self in the passing months. even to those he'd call friend.

there's no denying that the person on the screen is haggard, shadows beneath his eyes and overall looking far from well. when he speaks it's distant, as if not quite present. frodo knows the risk, especially with him on board. his voice is like brittle paper. ]

I know some of you have magic. I'd like to know..

[it seems as if even coming to thoughts is difficult. a pause. ]

Is there any magic on this ship capable of weakening something else? Making it less potent -- anything that could restrain an object even a little..

[ wearily: ]

Should you know anything, anything at all .. I'd like to discuss it. Privately.

Maglor? I have known of only one. I am only a hobbit but I know your tale, and due to the nature of this ship -- am in no place to doubt you.

[ there's something other than exhaustion crossing his face, something like wonder. ]

Only a hobbit, though? Thus far I have met but one hobbit, and if I were to judge by him alone, I would say that yours is a remarkable people.

Do you speak of Merry? If so, that is my young cousin on my mother's side. He is..yes, I suppose that would describe him.

[ if someone this powerful and familiar with objects of this magnitude could be trusted..wouldn't it suit them better? ]
Have you..spoken with more of us? Not just hobbits, but others. There are many of us from the same world.

I have. My son is here and one of my cousins. So, too, have I met one named Thranduil and a man called Elessar who is descended from my other son. And then there are the dwarves. [ He smiles a little at that, having quite liked what he's met of them so far. ]

Ah, I know King Thranduil, and I know King Elessar by another name, he has been a faithful ally and friend to me.

And yes, dwarves. They traveled with my Uncle, you see. They're some of the bravest people I've ever met.

Dwarves are a very brave people. I am glad to hear that they are your allies, however. Ah... do you know Elrond and Arta-- ah, Galadriel as well, then?

Indeed they are, fortunate am I, to have them.

[ a polite pause, he is in the presence of yet another story made flesh after all. one he avidly read, despaired with and even as the end came, hoped for a better one. ]

Lord Elrond and the Lady Galadriel have helped me more than I can ever hope to repay.
