[ the number's a 022, but there's no questions about where they are or when they get to go home. will doesn't even really want to be making this post, but people are talking about animal bones, human remains, blood. and that's kind of his gig. ]

I'm not a trained forensic analyst, but if we've got the equipment to do so, I'd be willing to try and take a look at the organic tissue people found in their lockers. I got meat. Anyone else?

A book. What book did it give you?

In quella parte del libro de la mia memoria, dinanzi a la quale poco si potrebbe leggere, si trova una rubrica la quale dice: Incipit vita nova.

[ Or perhaps Will would prefer the quote about devouring a human heart. Not today. ]

Direct lack of knowledge of a language - particularly one with its roots in Latin, as it is in English - should not prevent you from reading the verse as intended. The feeling of the text is more important than the individual words; the passion of Dante for Beatrice resonates.

Don't try too hard, and it will come to you.

[ Et tu, Will Graham. ]

You would be depriving yourself. I wonder--if you have no interest, nor even the ability, to read Dante, why would the ship see fit to give you such a book? Perhaps you are missing some underlying mystery.

Perhaps you are the man to solve them?

Or perhaps you are the mystery yourself. Will Graham, wasn't it?

[ Any number of things he might say would give him away, in a manner of speaking. You're better than that, Will, but Hannibal is careful.

Not altogether avoiding the bait, but careful.
]

Doctor Fell. I suppose I should ask, now, whether you write your reports with that poor grammar? I do hope not.

Language is our heritage and our enduring legacy. Any needless sullying it suffers is a curse we inflict on the next generation.

We have a responsibility, Mr. Graham, where we can, to lead by example.
