So now that I've read the handy little welcome manual and have established that this place is entirely too creepy--

[ She looks at the screen and sighs. Traces of concern and what might be fear accompany her mostly unamused look. It's probably pretty obvious that she took the time to make herself look at least semi-presentable before contacting the network. Her hair looks generally tucked into place and her usual daily makeup has been applied. ]

Is there anybody here who knows me? [ She expects at least a few yeses. She's practically New York royalty in her world. ] My name is Charlotte Clarke. I want to know if my family's here. The Graysons. Or anybody else from my world, I guess.

[ She basically just doesn't want to be here alone. ]

Also, I need to speak to a doctor. Preferably one who knows what they're doing.

Oh, I didn't mean you do-- just that at least that way you can check and make sure I'm not completely awful at this.

[ she pauses, raises her hand in a little wave. ]

Jenna, by the way.

[ Charlotte eyes her for a second, then seems to relax, the air of superiority and defensiveness falling away. ]

Sorry. [ For being a rude bitch. It's sort of a default mode. ] It's nice to meet you, I guess. But I'm fine. Or, I will be, anyway. [ Maybe. ]

Yeah, it's awful of you to be not upbeat and perky after being yanked into a bad SyFy movie.

[ ie: no worries. ]

You didn't tell me I was crazy or accuse me of bringing you here, so you're already breaking my personal curve.

[ skipping over how 'i'll be fine' is always a lie on the tranquility, no matter who says it. ]

[ She gives a small laugh, a little surprised maybe, and bites at the inside of her lip. ]

You don't look like the type to kidnap people from their homes and lock them aboard a spaceship that is in serious need of the Home Improvement team.

And this is the nice part of the ship.

Speaking of: I can't offer the crew of that Rip and Renew show, but I have probably literally a million pillows in colors not 'unending silver'. If you'd like some, I could grab an armful next time I'm in the therapy wing.

[ the therapy wing is the ship's island of misfit toys. ]

Of course it is.

[ There's a pause, though, expression going from exasperated to curious. She glances behind her at her plain room and her plain bed before returning her attention to Jenna. ]

You are a godsend. This room needs a little more color.

I wouldn't go that far, but a better welcome wagon than the annoying electronic 'get to the elevators' is probably on the money.

[ she hesitates for a second, considering. ]

Any colors I should look for in particular? If you're going to do something, might as well do it right.

Definitely better than that.

[ She turns to examine her room again, thinking about what it looked like back at home. The more familiar she can make it the better, as far as she's concerned. ]

Pinks, purples, maybe some gold?

Those I can absolutely do.

[ and 'when i get a chance' is going to be 'right now, pillow delivery in a couple hours' but she'll leave that one up to just doing it. ]

I won't say it ever gets easy-- I'm an awful liar, you'd be able to tell-- but easier fits.

Perfect.

[ Eventually she's going to have to go down to the medbay to get this pregnancy thing sorted out, but after that, she won't be leaving her room for a while. As in, she won't be leaving her room until she has to. ]

I guess easier's better than nothing. [ She braves a smile. ] Easy's not something I'm used to, anyway. I'll be able to deal.

I genuinely non-sarcastically don't have trouble believing that.

I'm very sincerely glad that you do.

...keep me in mind if you need anything else, okay? Even if it's just more pillows.

Yeah, totally. Thank you for all your help.
