video;
[Re-l's sitting in her room for the moment, her hair pushed back and finally clean of all of that disgusting goop from the jump. She fixes the camera with a level stare. She doesn't want to necessarily frighten any of the newcomers but she also doesn't want to coddle them. They need to get used to their new situation.
She leans back against the wall behind her and settles her hands across her stomach.]
It's been some time since the jump, so I guess it's appropriate to welcome the new arrivals. I know it's probably been a rough twenty-four hours for you so far...so I'm going to try and keep this brief.
You've probably been told by now that you're on the ship Tranquility. You've also probably been told that there's no real way to get home that we know of. Rest assured, almost all of us want to return to our home worlds. The moment someone figures out how we can leave, you'll be made aware of it.
[That should cover the first round of questions, but--]
While you're getting settled, you can have a look at this. It should be able to answer any of the preliminary questions that you may have. The information is fairly up to date. [Though she imagines there will be several more questions and critiques that will need to be addressed.] It's bare bones, I know, and I'm open to suggestions on how to improve it.
[She sits up a little better for her next statement.]
Several people here, myself included, want to make sure that everyone settles in as best they can. It's going to be difficult; that's something I can promise you. But we are going to do everything in our power to make sure everyone's accommodated. [A pause.] You're not alone here.
If you ever need anything, you can contact my comms device or you can approach me directly, if no one else. [She raises her head just a little, almost in a gesture to assert her authority, though she has very little of that to speak of.] My name is Re-l. Welcome to the Tranquility.
[The video feed clicks off.]

Any feedback on that pamphlet would be helpful. I was being serious about that. Anything you think I can add or fix, just let me know. I want to make sure we're keeping an eye on our numbers and names, too; we keep missing people and I want to see if there's a pattern forming.

Are you free for a moment? I'd like to speak with you about the new arrivals.
[Encrypted Video to Ward and Resnik]
[And the video turns back on because she'd like to speak to them, face-to-face, for this sort of request.]
If I could have a moment or two of your time, I'd greatly appreciate it. I want to speak with you both about the crew.

's pretty thorough but you didn't mention security. Considerin' what happened the last jump? We gotta give people an option to find some safety if they feel like they need it. People wakin' up from those grav couches could snap easier in the first 48 hours when everyone's still swiss-cheesed in the head.
permacryption, etc.
Besides you, what other names can we put down for security?

[le smile!] One thing, though: would you know how long this vessel has been travelling so far?
video.
[She shrugs simply.]
I can't say. I've been here since the first set of new crew, about three months now. Before then, there was another crew, and I'm not sure how long they were active.

Your list looks... good. Welcoming at least. If you are keeping it bare bones then it looks like it's got everything I wanted to know when I arrived.
Got a question though... Do we know how the tattoos got there yet? I mean I know the 'why' and 'what for' but I'm hearing a lot of 'when' and 'how'. Not much of a question for the list I guess, but I am curious if anyone knows that much?
Other then the fact that most people will already have heard most the arrival info by time they read this... it looks good.

Thanks. I know it could probably use at least a little expansion at some point, but it seems suitable enough for now.
[She shakes her head at his question.]
No, I don't think anyone knows. It's possible that whatever brought us here, whether it's the ship or some jump-mechanism, or even something on the ship via the grav couches... Maybe we received them there. I know that when the jump happens, we suddenly get a lot of people and there's no sign of how the appeared.
I suppose it's just one of those things we'll figure out eventually. [And they probably won't like the answer.]

Exemplary work.
I believe the only adjustment I can conceive of would be the inclusion of a map. As I understand it, Ariadne, 001 >> 004, is an architect in her primary continuum and has been collecting data from fellow passengers for this purpose. I can contact her at your inclination.

[NO, IT'S OKAY, SHE'LL TAKE WHAT SHE CAN GET.]
Yeah, we definitely need something of a map. I've been using what I can but it's nowhere near accurate.
[She quickly writes down Ariadne's name and number.]
If you could speak to her for me, that'd be great. If not, I can always look for her and ask myself. It's up to you.

Anyone missing that we know of, yet? I really should speak with Medical about making some sort of formal system we can use to keep track of new arrivals and departures.

It's all right. It's what I'd prefer to do. Have to do something to occupy my time, after all.
[She raises an eyebrow.]
And you are...?

I appreciate this information, Re-l, but I've yet to encounter a ship with over twenty decks. However impressive a feat of engineering it may be, is it not impractical to build a sailing vessel that large?
[It's hard to imagine a spaceship being anything like this when you're just getting used to powered flight, after all.]
permavideo
[She shrugs.]
I don't think this is supposed to be a ship designed only for transport or luxury.
also pretend this was backdated to just after the jump
sure!
