[ when the feed begins, luke is seated somewhere looking a little on the worse-for-wear side. dressed in the same all black he'd worn on the death star, his expression is pleasant enough, if exhausted. but he can't quite rest yet-- not until he has a few things sorted out.

he offers a smile that he hopes seems less sheepish than dignified, bobbing his head in a polite nod. ]

Hello. I'm Commander Luke Skywalker of the, ah, Alliance of Free Worlds-- but as our ranks mean very little in the grand scheme of things here, please feel free to call me Luke. I apologize, since I know we're all still settling in after the jump, but I had a request and an offer.

[ he lifts his right hand with a wince, pulling the glove back slightly to reveal the blaster damage to his prosthetic. he pulls it back down over the hole, then, fingers clicking as he curls them and lowers that hand. ]

As you can see, I have a prosthetic, and it's seen quite a bit of damage in the last few-- well, weeks, really, but it's at the point now where I can't ignore it. I was hoping someone on the ship had access to tools for delicate work that I could borrow. The sooner the better, in all honesty.

[ a brief pause, straightening slightly. ]

The offer is in regards to my place on this ship. I'm told that there are gaps in the manning in several departments, and I'm happy to offer my services. Skillset-wise, I'm most suited to security or engineering, I think, but I'm a quick study if I'm needed elsewhere.

[ he seems to consider that for a moment and, satisfied, offers a quick salute. ]

There's already one Skywalker in flight crew, and I'd rather not crowd him. Though yes, I'd be happy to work there if I'm needed.

The more people we have who know how to fly the better. Half the crew could be gone overnight, but the shuttles are our only way off this hunk of junk if things go wrong.

You can still work elsewhere and take the lessons.

there's a swift grin that's obviously struggling not to look just a little bit cocky. ]

Well, I haven't found a craft I couldn't fly. I don't mind taking the lessons for certainty's sake, though.

Yes. [ an uncomfortable, uncertain moment. what is he supposed to say to a young obi-wan? ] Ah-- I'm told it's a.. timeline issue.

Bit of a difference between an A-Wing and a passenger shuttle. Mostly the passengers.

This has to be my priority right now, though. All things considered, I wouldn't want to risk flying with it glitching like it has since I arrived.

I'd be extremely grateful. Though I don't suppose you're aware if medical is stocked with some sort of synthflesh alternative? I'm not exactly self-conscious about it anymore, but-- [ it's habit to let it blend with the rest of his arm. sometimes, it even lets him sort of forget that it's not real. ]

[ well, the abrupt mannerisms are familiar, anyway. obi-wan had been the same way when he'd known him. ]

You'll have to be patient for a bit longer. I have some things to finish up first. --Will you be there long?

As for prosthetics, you'd have to ask medical. But this ship can do all sorts of cool stuff. Fake skin shouldn't be so hard.

[well, there's a lot he should be picking up here and focusing on. but the sight of that prosthetic has all other thoughts set to the back of his mind just now. instead-]

You should have mentioned it sooner. We have equipment in the shuttlebay that you could use, and I'm sure Artoo would help.

[though he's...perhaps a little more interested in getting a closer look himself, because, machinery.]

Well-- we both had other things on our minds at the time, and-- it's such a personal thing.

[ and though most of the stump is covered by the delicate wiring and the artificial bone-structure that makes up the prosthetic, he really doesn't want to risk anakin guessing that it was removed with a lightsaber. it's far, far too early in their acquaintance for that conversation. ]
