[the post is made some hours after the jump. it's video, strangely enough for this passenger. light skin, pale hair, bright eyes. a curious expression at first, then a flashing, shy sort of smile once he realizes the feed the communicator is recording.]

Greetings, Tranquility. My name is Legolas. Some of you may know me, some may not. Regardless.. in light of some-- recent events [pirates. pirates being killed. bodies being strung up. his father being put in the brig. you get the idea.] my acquaintances and I have seen it fit to settle down with a few drinks.

Unfortunately, we.. seem to have brought too much. [video pans to show a few bottles, ale and whiskey, and then backs away to show a rather large barrel (three feet tall, to be exact) with dark red liquid inside. it spins around back to show legolas.]

Therefore, by unanimous agreement [...or just his agreement.] we would like to extend this courtesy to any who wish to join us. Our party may be found on the second floor of the Oxygen Gardens, near the lifts. There will be glasses provided, though I do recommend bringing your own flask or cup. We ask only for company in return, and that the drinks be put to good use.

[he takes a sip from a glass of wine and raises it in a toast before the feed cuts out.]

is there something wrong with drinking in the oxygen factory, clint, it is the best place to be drinking in.]

Let me guess, your group consists of a man, an elf and a dwarf?

[ look, he believes you! space alone was hard enough to handle, throw in pirates and lord of the rings elves and he feels like he's taking crazy pills. ]

[ he rubs the back of his head because damn if it doesn't feel bad making an elf's face do that. ]

Ah...well. Sorry about that. I might have to take you up on that drink offer.

[ because even though he's looking at him right now on the feed, seeing up close is believing. also he kinda needs that drink. ]

It is nothing to apologize for. [shakes his head, bringing the smile back up with a dismissive hand wave.]

[ oh good barton didn't make a complete ass of himself to an elf prince, that's always good. ]

[First Frodo, now Legolas. Bela read the books when she was younger and had got a few glimpses of the films but seeing him via the network was still a little strange.]

That's quite a lot of alcohol. I thought that most of it would have been gone by now.

Were we to have a competition of sorts, perhaps there would be less left. [dddooonn't give them ideas, the twins aren't even supposed to be socializing with elves let alone having drinking contests with them.]

I have had the wine cask for several months now, but little reason to open it. Best not to let it go to waste now.

That would be an interesting thing to witness. [Bela would be oh so amused by that but she doesn't push it too much.]

I can't believe I didn't know that there was a wine cask on board. It would be an absolute shame to waste it so count me in to join you. My name is Bela.

[gesturing towards the camera with the wine glass.] Now you know.

I'll probably end up being the only female there. Maybe I could convince them to start a competition. Or maybe even I could take part.

You might. With any luck, you might not be. In either case, I have heard that Dwarves love any chance for a good drink-off.

Dwarves. I haven't met any of the ones that we have on board here. Are they a raucous bunch?

[he looks (or pretends to look) thoughtful for a moment.]

...They have a habit of belching quite often. Good drinking companions, though, I guess. So long as they do not start singing about little hairy women.

[He's guessing wine, based on the glass in Legolas's hand, but "wine" isn't very specific at all.]

Wine. [a vague answer for a vague question. he'll elaborate, though, after a moment.] From the lands of Dorwinion, in my home world. A great indulgence for my people, and the many others who trade with those lands.

I see. The name Dorwinion isn't familiar to me.

What fruit does the wine come from -- grape? Plum?

Different times. Or different worlds entirely, perhaps.

Dorwinion is quite always the best, in my taste. Will you join us for some, Master Kirk? One glass would not hinder your work.
