[Ianto pops up on screen with a professional smile. He's never bothered to introduce himself on the network before, but he's never had anything important to say to everyone until now.]
Now that everyone's had the chance to settle in, I was hoping you would all be kind enough to answer some questions.
Waking up here doesn't tend to be a pleasant experience, and I doubt it ever will be. But I believe it could be made just a bit less confusing and uncomfortable, if explanations and answers to questions are closer at hand. So the questions are simple ones:
What would you have liked to know immediately upon waking? What reassurances would you have liked to hear? Was the information you were given by others too sparse for comfort, too much to process in your immediate condition, or just too unbelievable? And if your first reaction was disbelief, what sort of evidence would you have liked to see?
My ultimate goal is to keep new arrivals as calm and well-informed as possible when they wake. The situation will never be pleasant or easy to swallow, but we can at least stave off some of the worst reactions and keep anyone from panicking.

I'm personally a fan of more is more, but some of the concepts we're asking people to accept are— [ Capa scrubs at his face with a hand and then exhales, as if trying to figure how best to express what it is he means to say. ] —understandably, hard to grasp. Knowing who can grasp them off the bat, though— that could be helpful.

Well, for me, it would have been good to know where the four-wheeled devices were, and to not just have to just be on the floor or dragging myself around in goo and not enough clothes until someone helped me.
Uhhh, yes, and there were people helping other people, and that was really good.

I hadn't thought about accessibility issues. That's certainly something we can work to rectify.

I can help with the volunteers, uh, if you need people.

That would be lovely, Tavros. Thank you.

I doubt anyone would volunteer to hold hands with these beings.

I'll just put you down on the list of compassionate sympathizers then, shall I?

Our sentimentality, as you put it, serves a social and evolutionary purpose. The more of us there are, banded together in common purpose, the stronger we are. Your suggestion would divide us and weaken us, and is therefore both unhelpful and untruthful.

Well, I've suffered one ship of fools; it's of no importance to me how you treat each other.

I also would have liked more information about what happened, but it doesn't look like anybody has it, so I'll let it go.

[ Yep, she's side-eyeing some of the younger people on the ship, never mind the fact that she's technically the youngest at four.]
I'm sure a welcome brochure of sorts will simply suffice.

That'll be part of it, I'm sure, but I was hoping to do something a little more immediate as well. Most people are too disoriented to bother with reading a brochure straight out of the gravity couches, despite having very immediate questions.

I don't think that's a very wise idea. While it may be necessary in some cases to keep someone from harming themselves or others, people won't take kindly to being sedated if they're anything less than hysterical.

The vast majority of us are highly capable of handling it. Or were trained for that sort of thing. However.
I would suggest more than a few people keeping an eye out on things.
voice;
So far, everyone's been very accommodating in making sure people receive that help. But I think it does a great deal in reassuring them that they aren't alone, that they don't need to be scared, and that someone is looking out for them.
[You know, unless some crazy tries to hold someone hostage.]
