In Paris, my brothers and I fought for a republic that has, from what I am told -- now come. Our lives were given to that cause and for that cause; for a day when all the people of the world were to be equal, free, and peaceful. We fought to remove power from the hands of the tyrants and place it in the hands of men who would live as brothers, as they are meant to. That may have come to pass. It may have not. I know there are many on this ship who are from different worlds.
If it has not -- in a place such as this, what does one do? Does he continue the fight? There is nothing to barricade with; there are kings but they do not hold power. My future is uncertain, I mislike it. I need something to do with myself.
I have studied law. I had not yet passed the bar at home, I would have taken it again in the end of June. I am well-versed in various political philosophies and writing articles, speeches, pamphlets, that sort of thing. I am also proficient in canne de combat and various firearms. What might I do here? Assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

If it has not, I am not certain what we should do here. We could not return to Paris, our Paris at least, and hope to do much for the republic so that is not a course of action that we could plan work for either.
...I should not have just typed that and have no idea how I might strike it out, my apologies. I know that you know all of this already, Lucien, I am just attempting to reason it out a it, to try and discover something. Perhaps they may have need of lawyers in the future here, as more people arrive and misunderstandings happen? It does not sound like much and it is not yet...
The other idea is to find a need, as you have started asking about, for something on this ship, and to work towards fulfilling it. The ship has so many resources but there may be something along these lines that we may still be able to fill.
I wish that I knew more to help with this.

Your statement does beg the question of who is in charge here, and what the purpose of such a ship is. I am uncertain as to the society we now find ourselves in, but as their seems to be structure and order, I do wonder after the form of government here. Perhaps some agreed-upon leader will seek you out and inform you? If not, I cannot doubt your ability to figure out these mysteries all the same.
If there is a such fight to be continued... it may make itself known. If not, and we are all free and equal men, perhaps you might be able to continue your studies?
There's so much to learn. I'm afraid I'm not of any real help.

I am relatively certain that law has changed quite a bit. Who is to say what year we are even in?

It's hard to keep busy here, isn't it? Have you thought about maybe trying something outside what you already know? Maybe something you've always thought you'd try but never had the time for it before! Ah, for example-- one of my friends here is teaching me how to cook! Since I've never had the opportunity to learn, and I thought it would be a good idea to become self-sufficient.
Or, if you'd like, I'd be happy to help you keep your combat skills sharp. I've only been trained in the classical style of fencing, but I don't think it would be too different to use a cane, am I right?

It is similar to fencing. I shall teach you if you like, though I cannot promise patience.

[ okay so no, she doesn't know if he "LEAD" the revolution, but he was involved enough for her to figure he knows what he's doing. plus, firearms. she's taking a shot in the dark, in a way, but she's mostly just doing it because she knows how much is sucks feeling idle for too long. ]

I did not precisely lead it, mademoiselle. I lead a small group of my friends at the barricades, but there were several barricades.

..You might instruct others in combat, or firearms. I do not know of much else, but-- have you thought about the Security team?

[He sounds a little distant, but at least he's agreeable enough. ....Until the last question, to which his voice sharpens.]
I have not. It would seem to be rather counter-productive, I do not get along well with police officers. [Or their spies. But he's leaving that bit out.]

Or you could try something more like those pamphlets-- try Nathan and Comms.

I do not think this ship is in need of revolutionary rhetoric at the moment, however.

But, if you want to take an unconventional route, maybe you can start some kind of club of your own — talk about progress, strategy. There's already a fight club, too, for hand-to-hand improvement and recreation.

On fighting, I don't think I'd be much help to you, Enjolras. I cannot say I wield my sword much better than a child might.
