I don't believe those are related. And it is not as if I do not like hugs, they are simply far too personal, and it is startling if I am attempting to enjoy my garden and someone leaps out of nowhere with a hug.

I am quite old, but handshakes seem to be a more Western form of greeting. I try my best to do them these days, but I have not for most of my life.
