[ The feed starts with an orange tabby yawning into it until Carolyn shoos him away, brushing some of the cat hair off her lap as she adjust the screen. She's in her room today, the tomcat who helped start the video settling against her side. Judging by the orange tail sticking out from her other side, there's another cat in with her. ]

Tranquility. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Carolyn Fry. I do what I can to try to teach what I can about living in space and the flight crew, and I'll get to that, but I'm hoping some of you might be able to give some advice of your own first.

[ She pauses, looking distinctly uncomfortable. ]

How do you tell if a cat is pregnant? And how do you stop them from... trying to reproduce? Doctor Tam, maybe?

[ Pets are so out of her league it isn't even funny. Shaking her head, she takes a breath and then continues. ]

Anyway. The flight crew is always looking for more members. If you don't have any experience working with spacecraft, we'll teach you. As of right now, a great deal of what we do is maintenance. Anyone who's interested can talk to me or one of the other members about it.

In addition, I know a lot of you are new to space or to more modern technology in general. I have a series of videos that may help. They include the ship's official evacuation procedures, how to stay healthy and safe, and some of what we know about this universe in general. There will be a live review of all of these, but for anyone who can't make it or would like to review on their own time, the videos can be found in the link I'm attaching.

In addition to this jump's review, I'd also like to know what you'd like to learn about. It doesn't necessarily have to be about space specifically. If you speak up, I'll see what I can do.

I'm going to have to reduce the amount of time I spend in the shuttle bay.

Why's that?

Because I have to arrange my time around when Han Solo is working.

You've got to be fucking kidding me.

You're both adults. Deal with it like adults.

I've told him I don't owe him money, that I don't know him, and he doesn't seem to think that's acceptable.

And that should suffice.

You could always just wait nine weeks to find out.

It doesn't.

It's a large shuttle bay. Work away from him. Next time he brings it up, let me know and I'll take care of it if you can't.

Is that how long it takes for them?

I have other places to work, Carolyn. Other departments, and you seem to be doing well enough with Anakin.

You're signed up with this one. Your nanites reflect that.

Besides, Anakin's on leave and when he isn't, is going to be working on a project with alternate fuel sources. He also informed me that when he does come in, it'll be with you.

Maybe they'll make enough babies for a cat army, to take on those rats.

Then it's time for you to find a solution that doesn't involve "work away from him."

That'd be something, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure I could feed that many cats, though.

Generally. Though i've never met a cat who's right on the money. After about four or five weeks, she'll start to slow down, find somewhere to make a nest away from it all.

Then you'll know.

Or you could do your fucking job.

[ It's not the response she'd usually give, but she's too tense with Johns on board. She's been trying to sleep in her room and it hasn't been working, has actually been even worse than when she slept in the shuttle bay. In this conversation, encrypted away from everyone else, it's much more clear just how exhausted she looks. ]

She already likes it beneath the furniture.

Have you had many cats?

Well, if they were good, you wouldn't have to worry about it until the rats ran out.

But yeah, might eventually be a problem.

You need rest.

And I'll come back once you've had it and you've decided how you want to proceed, considering you're the one in charge. If you decide that you don't have a better solution other than ignore him, which considering how well that turned out for me the first time, then I'll continue to say:

I'm going to cut my hours.

[There's nothing but that complete Jedi calm, that endless patience.

But make no mistake in that he's angry, and the only thing keeping that in check is his training]

From what I've heard, some of the rats are about the same size they are.

[ Looking down at Jones. ]

Though I suppose that doesn't mean much.

I'm not going to get any fucking rest the way this ship's been going.

[ Her fingers twist in Jones's fur before she forces them to relax, to smooth out the strands. ]

Like I said. The next time he brings it up, let me know and I'll come take care of it. I need to see it happening so he doesn't think I'm just attacking him out of the blue.

The entire ship saw it happen, Carolyn. I know you did, too.
