[ Elena doesn't have the time to make herself presentable for the network, let alone set up a video post for this one. She almost thought about texting the question out because she can feel the panic leaving her throat the moment she opens her mouth. ]

Has anyone seen Jeremy? Gilbert, I mean. My brother. I know he hasn't been here for that long, but if someone knows where he is, can you please tell me? I haven't seen him since the whole jump thing and I can't get a hold of him.

Everyone's been talking about making sure we keep an eye on each other, so this probably makes me sound like the worst sister ever. But I need to know if he's okay, and that he's not... [ She lets herself trail off and the thought hang in the air as she feels its weight slowly crushing her. She can't even verbalize it. Denial, thy name is Elena Gilbert. So, she's tries that again: ] I just need to know if he's okay. Uhm, thanks.

[ While she turns off for the rest of the network, she continues on for those from home, so she can talk about the less common knowledge stuff. ]

He's not hiding out with one of you, right? I checked his room and his locker. All of his stuff is still here, even his ring.

[ and that clearly makes her nervous. ]

Where did he go? He wouldn't just wander off after everything that happened. He might be my sometimes-rebellious brother, but he should know better.

[ It's like some part of her knows what this means, but another, much larger, part is rejecting the reality of the situation. Jeremy is gone. ]

Thank you. Though I'm sorry that any of us have to experience this. I'm told my brother probably back home, where safe is still debatable, but I guess it's better than the alternative.

I'm not sure if you're saying the ship is the alternative, but I guess I'm selfish in saying that if they just go back to the real world, no fuss no muss - I wouldn't mind having them with me while I go through this.

[effusive]

I was thinking more along the lines of getting lost and killed by whatever is infesting this ship. But I wouldn't say there's no fuss back home either. [ a sigh. ] I'm probably being just as selfish.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to have family close to you.

[effusive]

I guess not. It just comes down to wanting to protect them, even if I'm not doing the best job.

I think that's all any of us want. It feels easier when we can at least keep an eye on them.

As bad as it sounds, I think it also distracts from what's really going on.

Focusing on the problems and worries of someone else - I get it. It's easier than looking at your own life. I've been there. [Most of the time she's still there, even if she is without family here.]
