ONE: video

[The video starts out at an odd angle, the device left on the bed as Taylor sorts through the other items she'd found in her locker. She's confused and a little disorientated, but she still starts out with an accusatory tone in her voice, clearly thinking that she is addressing someone specifically.]

Is this another test mission? You should give us briefs, you know, it's not like we ever get a real mission where we just wake up wherever and fumble through it.

[Quiet for a long minute, waiting for a response, checking a gun over to make sure it's all in working order. Still no response, though, and she continues, more anger seeping into her tone.]

Or maybe you're finally trying to get rid of me. [Her expression hardens.] Fuck it, whatever. Guess the worst I can do is survive whatever this is.

[She looks the gun over one more time before holstering it, then starts gathering the rest of the items up; three grenade-like devices that she settles onto the uniform's belt; chewing gum, dog treats, mascara, spare ammo - all go in various pockets. Lastly, she scoops up a dog - a chihuahua, surprisingly calm looking for the strange environment - and rests him on her hip.]

Oh, yeah. And don't ever stick one of my dogs in a fucking locker again.

Well, uh, Mouse and I found the lunchroom, pretty sure that's the most important spot so far.

[It wasn't like Taylor had wanted to see Pinset. She just had a habit of being the cause behind some of the more dislikeable moments in Taylor's life.]

Mouse.

[She still thinks it's a ridiculous codename. Chubbs, on the other hand, is more interested in the mention of a food-place, but Taylor ignores him.]

I was talking to Mouse. Texting.

[Which is a new venture and strangely sort of liberating, really.]

I met him in the lockers. He's really nice for a guy, but he's all like... nervous and sad sometimes.

[Nervous and sad? Well, she guesses you can sort of tell when people are feeling like that. It just doesn't match with the image she'd got anyway, but she isn't that surprised to hear he's a guy.]

[She doesn't want to meet him. Why would she? (She doesn't like the idea of it, setting it up, seeing him sad and nervous. Texting had been alright, had been easy, talking like that. They didn't need to step outside that).]

Should be thinking about what we're doing here, not making lunch dates.

[Doesn't seem like she's got one of the nastier pathoses, from her general manner, but then everyone knew Flashover could be real friendly, and she could set herself on fire, so.]

[To be fair on her, half of it is from the blue goo tank. She does make the effort to remember that, or at least what it means and indicates, but she comes up with zilch.]

[It takes her a moment, to understand Jennie's pulled that light off of her, that what Jennie says has something to do with it. Vague hazy remembrance of the girl that knew how people were feeling.

She scowls, fully, and reaches up to slap the balls away - and earns herself a nasty stinging sensation on her hand. She swears, pulling it back to hold against her belly, but the pain just gives her more anger.]

How was I meant to know they'd do that?

[Brightly coloured balls of emotion didn't immediately indicate 'could hurt you'. She'd just thought they were like glitter or something, would disappear then she hit them.]

[The light touch on her palm tickles, leaves a ghost of sensation after Jennie's fingers are gone. Taylor ignores it, curls her hand back in against her stomach.]

Didn't know that, either.

[But it made her pathos slightly more useful than Taylor's own, and balanced them somewhat, if they ended up fighting together.]
