[there's the familiar face of Jim Kirk, and judging from his expression, you can expect this isn't going to be a fun broadcast. next to him is Tyke, who is leaning back in her seat, Jim seated in the middle and Spock standing on his right, hands at parade rest and as unflappable as ever.]

Passengers, this is Jim Kirk, if I could have your attention for a moment.

As everyone knows, we've got people lost in the ship. Petrelli has already asked everyone not to use the lifts and I'm going to repeat that caution. We believe something is malfunctioning and the lifts are sending people to the wrong floor. Judging by the faulty messages we've been getting, we can guess that it's somewhere deep in the ship. Communications is currently working on clearing that up.

Right now I need able-bodied personnel to report to the Gunnery via the stairs. We're going to be working with Security to put teams together. While we don't want anyone else getting lost, we've got people out there who weren't prepared for it. That means they need food and water and probably weapons.

[ spock doesn't step any further into the feed, but he does pull a series of data padds from seemingly nowhere. his gaze doesn't lift from the bundle as he speaks. ] The gunnery department is able to supply a number of projectile based weapons as well as several dozen phasers for those willing and capable of utilizing them. Medical is standing by to receive members of each party and equip them with first aid kits.

[ it isn't an afterthought, but there's something about the way he finally looks at the screen that still says illogical humans. ]

Despite individual concerns for the well-being of friends, family, and your fellow passengers, I do not believe it unreasonable to remind you that this is an emergency alert. Personal feelings aside, we are meant to aid others, and cannot be expected to do so if we do not also ensure our own safety.

[It's at that point that Tyke finally leans forward, but it's clear in her expression and tone that she doesn't want to be talking any more than she has to, barely covered-over frustration and agitation.]

Respond to this if you can see it and you're currently in a known location, even if you're not gonna be involved in running supplies. We need to figure some working idea of how many are lost and how many are safe.

[people are milling about, even by the time he gets there. Jim is always both surprised and relieved at the turn out, and he has his back to Sulu, filling a bag of weapons to give to someone when he arrives]

[ and sulu comes skidding into the gunnery, katana strapped to his hip and a little out of breath. he pokes kirk in the middle of the back by way of greeting, less formal than he should but they've been edging towards the wrong side of captain-crew formality these days. sulu's not worried about it. ]

[he does a double take over his shoulder when he's poked (there aren't many who'd greet him that way, after all)] Sulu— [and he finishes what he's doing, handing it to someone before turning around.] I thought I told you not to run?

[leaps]

You did tell me that.

[ sulu shrugs, like it was unavoidable. ]

What're we looking at?

[ oh sorry, was anyone asking spock? no.
well he's answering anyway. vulcans just showing up in errybodys business

he approaches with an armful of PADDs that he doesn't actually look up from. he simply sifts through them methodically and hands the pair of them one each as he closes the distance. ]

Communications remains unable to modify network controls and establish an unaffected line. Discussion has been made regarding network broadcasts encouraging those lost to attempt to return to their point on entry in order to ease the extraction process and eliminate unnecessary risk.

Medical has confirmed a number of their staff, while limited, will remain in case of emergency, and has begun outfitting rescue parties with necessary first aid and trauma supplies. Shuttle bay is under the command of Carolyn Fry. Engineering is on alert. Groups appear to be formulating of their own design and accepting weaponry with minimal hesitancy.

[all at once it's as though he's on the bridge of the Enterprise again, and Jim feels his spine straightens as he takes the PADD from Spock. he barely glances at it.]

We've also been getting reports of those things- they need a name, by the way- in the halls where people have been getting lost. Some groups have already headed out.

[leaps]

[ no on asks spock, he just appears to tell people what's up. sulu's acquainted.

sulu takes the padd without question, taps at it a few times before he looks up, looks from kirk to spock and this is comfort beyond what sulu can articulate. this is home. this is the closest to home sulu can possibly get. ]

Are these groups capable? I haven't kept track of all the volunteers.
