[It's not very often that Asato makes a post to the network, preferring to read and hear what others have to say, offering bits of awkwardly-worded input when he thinks it could be useful. He's not one to draw attention to himself, and though it might seem difficult for a relatively big guy with cat ears and a tail, he tends to manage it too.

He's just a quiet guy minding his own cat business, part of which he's spent in the gardens, carefully tending to something each and every day. The result of nearly a year of watering, trimming, checking and double-checking, is what he moves the video feed to quickly after he sees the feed is on, offering only a quick glimpse of his face.]

I have--these.

["These" being a little pile of some kind of fruit. They're somewhere between a peach, an apple, and a currant, the size of a baseball at their largest, ranging from magenta to purple in color. He can't show it through the feed (much as he wishes he could!), but the scent that's coming from them is a strong mix of sweet, sour, and spicy.]

Kuims. Is what they're called. I planted them. I can't eat all of them, but I don't want them to go bad. [Which is why he's happy to offer some to whoever wants to stop by in the gardens and try them out.]

They're really good. In my world, lots of people like these the best. [A great advertiser he is not, but he's trying, and his enthusiasm is genuine.]

Please come have some. I don't need anything in return for them. Um... They're good in cakes, too. [That...should wrap things up, he figures, so the feed gives a shake, comes back to his face one more time, and clicks off.]

[Which may be the most cheerful sounding order that Asato's ever heard from him. Not that he's so into his sudden idea that he's cheerful, but hey, there's a hint of it. And over some plastic sounding scrapes and footfalls of boots - ]

Okay. [Asato's content to do as he's asked, and he's not about to abandon his pile of kuims anyway. Gotta save at least a few to nibble on later or share with others, and the best of the harvest are set in a different pile for when the other cat on board comes around.]

If there's some left. I don't know if there are enough to give one to everyone. But maybe to the kitchens would be good.

[With that he shuts it off, and it isn't much more than two minutes before he gets there. Because, surprise surprise, he's on his bike with the handlebars in one hand and a plastic tupperware sort of tray in the other.]

[He's waited for this day, for a loooong time. Hence why his reply shuts off with nothing more than that before he's veering off from wherever else he was going and bolting his way there.

Hopefully for him, the right way, too.]

[He nods with a little "Mhm", way ahead of him in saving a few. The best ones he could pick out, the deepest purple, the squishiest and juiciest--Konoe deserves nothing less.]

I knew you'd want to have some, Konoe.

[And if Konoe ends up walking in circles through the hallways, then he'll just bring some back to their room. One way or another, they're going to share this favorite treat from home.]

Those look pretty good.

[Why would you bring Chase into this why]

They are. [His ears flick up as he grabs one and holds it to his device's camera, turning it a little each way to show off its purple surface, which seems a bit more waxy than fuzzy.]

They taste really sour when they're not ripe. But now, they're sweet and spicy. And they're soft when you bite into them. Do you want to come try one?

The piemaker? [Which seems like a silly question, but that doesn't stop him from asking. He looks back to the little heap of fruits, cocks his head, then returns his attention to the video feed.]

I'd like a pie. Does Heather want a pie? [Maybe they could split one. With...whatever it is people eat with pies. He'll figure that part out later.]

Yes. A year ago, they appeared in my locker. And then I decided to grow more.

[And sure enough, he's got nearly twice as many to enjoy a year after.]

[It's hard to describe, there's probably a hint of some kind of pepper in there too, but he does what he can to compare it to things he's had here instead of just saying "they taste like kuims".]

[Every time he's asked that, he needs to think for a moment. They don't taste quite like anything he's had on the ship; they're rich and sweet, a little tart, with a sort of spicy finish that lingers as a faint warmth on the tongue. They taste good, definitely.]

I found something in the kitchen once. Peaches in a can. They taste a little bit like those, but different too. It's hard to explain. [And words aren't his strong suit to begin with.]
