video; 2nd case file

[this is Stilinski's first time using the video function, because hey this guy doesn't even use Skype back home, why would he do it on the Tranquility. still, he has a question and he's not really sure who to ask so why not ask everyone, right? this is supposed to be a forum.]

I hope with the most recent injuries people are going to be exercising a little more caution up here. We can't keep you people safe if you keep running off into the ship.

[he's been around medical, he knows how hard the staff are working, and he isn't going ot elaborate because while he's on security, it isn't his job to police people. not until he gets that order.]

Got a question for ya though. Is it normal to get things in your locker that aren't yours?

[his expression crinkles, because he knows how that sounds.]

I don't mean something significant that isn't yours, like a picture or- or a ring that belonged to someone you knew. But I mean, something you've never seen before in your life.

[and because that isn't all that clear and because he honestly doesn't know that this is a potentially dangerous substance, he holds the bottle up.]

I thought this was gun powder or a spice or something, but, it isn't. And I have no idea what it is.

[he looks at it again, shrugs, sets it down, and ends the transmission.]

[ this isn't going to end well, but whatever, might as well get all of the horrible conversations out of the way. ]

I like to think we are. [ choosing words really carefully. ] Does that bother you?

[ ...not in the slightest. at all. what the hell. ]

That's probably because he's not too sure because Derek is about as verbal as a tree. But they're sort of friends. I know them as friends but my perspective is slightly skewed.

[ right there's something else she needs to add. ] He's not a bad guy, I know the whole thing that happened probably makes you think it, but Derek, for all his faults, is actually pretty good.

[ a beat. ] You didn't answer me, by the way. Does it bother you if I'm close to Stiles?

[ there's a horrible thing about lydia that she acknowledges when she's feeling particularly guilty or feeling particularly like making herself feel like complete and utter shit. she's used stiles' affection for her own gain before on the ship, because why wouldn't you believe the girl you're in love with when she says i'm from the future. she's still mad him for keeping things a secret from her ( and she wonders if she'll ever really forgive any of them one hundred percent for it ), but it was an attempt to protect her. it'd be sweet if she was any other girl, maybe.

stiles is— like a puppy that follows her around that she thinks maybe if she didn't love jackson, there would be some form of a chance. it'd be grotesquely unequal unless stiles took her off the pedestal that he's put her on ( even if she thinks she deserves to be on a pedestal ).

it's weird though, having someone else tell her about stiles' feelings for her and for a brief second she just has to take a moment to breathe in and out. ]

My feelings for your son aren't something I should talk to you about, I think. [ she clears her throat. ] I cared when he left the last time, trust me, if there's anyone on this ship looking out for him, it might just be me.

He's lucky to have you, you know.

[ that's enough to earn a small laugh out of her before she shrugs. ]

What can I say? You deserve it. I think I've taken up too much of your time already, but Sheriff, remember what I said, please. I meant every word of it.

[ AND DISCONNECT-O. ]
