[The device comes on, but the picture is shaky for a moment just a blur of darkness, red, blond. The voice that speaks sounds nearly panicked, but there was some lingering control there.]

Jesus Christ you're heavy.

[The device finally settles on Alex's face. There is blood splattered across half of it, and on a great deal of his visible clothing. He's down to just his undershirt, and from the angle of the device, the peek of another forehead and chestnut hair can be seen leaning against his arm, the rest of the unconscious person completely out of frame.

Alex, to his credit, is doing his best to keep his shit together, despite the gravity of the situation.]

I need medical personnel to my location. I'm-- [He muttered shit under his breath, his eyes going over the device for a moment.]

I'm not sure where I am. I think on level three--fuck I'm all turned around. These devices have pinging abilities, right?

[He leans his head back on the dark of the bulkhead. He's got to hope for that. The maze is complicated and he's lost track in his attempts to get out.]

Erik Lehn--Magneto has been severely injured. I've done what I can to stop the bleeding. I don't--

[Alex looks off frame and blanches slightly.]

He's missing a hand, and I don't--don't know if you can save the rest. Idiot got ambushed by something. I didn't get a good look at it.

[If Alex hadn't been a creepy stalker, and followed Erik around, he probably wouldn't even be alive.

He closes his eyes, focusing on his breathing, and Erik's head is more apparent on camera as Alex shifts him, bringing him in closer.]

Just--I would really appreciate some help here.

[He's freaked out, and really really hates to see this much gore (he'll have nightmares for days, again), but he's going to focus on his physical being, now. He didn't fail, Erik is still alive. It's a start and that's what he has to focus on.]

[ Good is on the tip of her tongue, but it doesn't really feel like the best response, so she forces herself not to say it. ]

What-- [ Can I do? and Happened? are both possible endings for that question but the latter can be explained later, when Alex isn't in the middle of dealing with this, and she's pretty sure she knows the answer to the former already. Still, she doesn't know what else to say. ] What can I do?

Look it's stupid but--

[Alex knows he shouldn't ask her, really, but she had always gotten along with his animals and he just needs something to be okay.]

I didn't get to feed the pets today. Can you go feed them?

[ It may be a trivial request in comparison to what's going on right now, but she doesn't think it's stupid and that much should be clear in how she's already up and moving. ]

Yeah, of course. They're in your room?

Yeah.

[He nods.]

They like you...got good taste.

You don't have to butter me up, Alex; I already agreed to do it. [ Though it's not quite as teasing as it might normally be, October is trying to distract him a little. Make the situation suck a little less. It's probably pointless, but at least she's trying. ]

Just trying to be nice. You know, that thing you told me to work on.

[ She smiles faintly. ] This is one of those times where I wouldn't hold it against you if you were a jackass to me. For the record.

I'll be nice and try and save it for someone else.

How gentlemanly of you. [ It may not be the best time for a conversation - especially small talk - but October's worried, so she's going to make this last as long as she can. Hopefully until someone from medical shows up. ] How much food should I give the critters?

They have bowls--just a bowl each. They are pretty good about sticking to their own.

Okay. [ She's at the lifts now, waiting for it to arrive. ] I'll stay with them after they're done and keep an eye on them for you. [ So you don't have to worry or rush back goes unsaid. ] Just let me know how things go.

[He gives her a tired smirk.]

[ She shakes her head as she steps into the lift. ]

Don't worry about it. It's not like I was in the middle of anything better.

Aww come on, you could lie at least. Say you got something super important you're dropping.

[A small joke, but one he needs, right now.]

Sorry. I'll keep that in mind for next time. [ Though hopefully there won't be a next time. ]
