[ Stannis turns on the feed, seated in his quarters with a goshawk, and looking rather… unimpressed. Of course, this is hardly a change. And of course, when he speaks, his voice is firm and commanding. ]
Though I mislike these devices, I see little other manner in which mine inquiry may be answered.
[ He sets his jaw, moving his teeth from side to side. ]
They say that this is a vessel that moves through… space [ as preposterous as it sounded… there was hardly any denying such ]. This begs the question as to how one would conduct a battle aboard such a vessel. It would not function as a typical vessel, moving instead in four distinct directions, as opposed to two, would it not?
[ A frown. As much as he loathes to do this… ]
I would have more information on such strategies, and if this vessel has ever encountered another, and been forced to do battle. I would also know how one can apply their knowledge of ship combat to the Tranquility.
[ And with that, he hastily shuts off the feed, having little else to discuss.
He loathed ignorance. And he would fully cure himself of the affliction ]

[ arthur seems equally ponderous, now that this fact has been brought to his attention. but then he snaps himself out of it. ]
I'm afraid I'm at as much of a loss as you. As well you know. Which reminds me, I never did get a chance to tell you how I appreciated your assistance upon my arrival.

[ he frowns ]
Thanks is hardly needed.
[ For this ship was a queer place, and the boy had been in a similar situation to himself, had he not? ]

[ he disagrees, about the thanks, but gratitude doesn't come easy to arthur and he has no wish to press it upon baratheon. so he turns the topic back to strategy. ]
I suppose some maneuvers would be not dissimilar to battle with an aerial creature?

Run into a space station, sure.
But I'd contact Kirk or Spock if you want the specs on the weapons in this place.

[ Less of a request, and more of an order. But, what else is to be expected from such a man. ]
Kirk and Spock are men?
voice;
[A snort.]
How about you tell me why I should.

[ for one cannot be unprepared for such a thing. they, of all man should know that better than most. ]

[ ...For if there were vessels in this "space", it would stand to reason that perhaps somewhere out there, there could also be pirates. ]

[THAT IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION, MR. BARATHEON.]
no subject
Hardly.
[ For how was that his duty? No, his sole concern was returning to Westeros ]
I merely wished to know the strategies used to wage battle in...
[ oh Gods be good ]

Though the man's language was rather vulgar for speaking to a king. Yet such a thing mattered little in these circumstances. ]
They make for a poor captain and first mate, if one is to be forthright.
[ It was nearly shocking that none had sought to mutiny against them. ]

[ text ]
As with terrestrial warfare there are some things that will always remain the important. Finance, attrition tactics, psychological warfare, logistics.
And the preference to have to use none of these things, of course.
[ text ]
I would have you explain more to me of these technologies that aid in battle. Do they change the manner in which the vessel moves?
The basics of attacks and warfare would not change, yet it is the details that truly make the difference between life and death.
[ text ]
Got an interest in warfare, I take it.

[ Even if he was not of the time... the boy seemed to be the sort to seek out answers, much like himself.
For ignorance was never tolerable. ]
