[He is about to end the feed when he has an additional thought:]

[Satisfied now, Clint slings a quiver of arrows and a sleek black bow over his shoulder before shutting off the transmission.]

Did anyone else have an issue with those masks? I haven't felt right since those things showed up.

[ She doesn't have anything to say to that; there's not much point, as far as she can see, in putting the masks on anyway. So instead she'll just help move mattresses. ]

So, blanket, pillow, and mattress forts. They don't require a lot of planning. Just a lot of materials.

Like bedding.

Furniture helps, for the walls. You need some structural integrity.

The mattresses are just for the floor, then?

You can make them the walls, but you have to prop them up.

Hm.

[ There's a look down at the mattress. ]

And the pillows?

In my house? Pillows are ammo.

[ And now a look back at him. ]

You can take them to hand-to-hand, too.

[ A little bit of a smile. She thinks she gets it. ]

Exactly. You never know what you're gonna be up against.

Couch cushions hit a little harder.

[Moving on to the next mattress.]

Now, the best way to do it is to put it in a corner. That way you've only got two sides to defend. Sure, you're backed to the wall, but you don't need to worry about it if you set the thing up properly. It's all about keeping the fort stable.

You'd rather be corned and able to defend yourself than being able to run but have nowhere to go.

[ God that sounds familiar. ]

Exactly. It's not like real war, where a good offense is key. You've got to stay defensible. Otherwise, the whole thing's pointless. Somebody slams into the side, bam. Whole thing falls.

I've never been a soldier, but I know about survival.
