[Despite all of the incredible and sometimes unbelievable things that Wanda’s seen and experienced in her life, nothing quite prepares her for her arrival on the Tranquility. It isn’t even the fact that she’s unexpectedly woken up on a spaceship that throws her off-balance (though it's quite unexpected), or even the fact that time and space and reality seem to work differently there (because really she's sort of used to that). It's that Pietro isn’t there during a decidedly difficult point in her life (after-life?) that impacts her the most. She can’t remember a time they've ever been parted in such a way, and the feeling is extremely unsettling.

Taking a deep breath, she sets her communication device to broadcast her message in video. She's dressed in her Ultimates uniform, though only the top of the red leather shows on screen. By all appearances seems to be in her early to mid-twenties, with an unusual amount of confident and poise evident in her body language.]

Good evening, my name is Wanda Maximoff and I'm another of the recent arrivals.

[Of course, it's not her real last name, but both she and Pietro adopted it after breaking ties with their father, and it was far easier to go through life not reminding people that they were the children of the infamous Magneto.]

I'm looking for any information regarding my brother, Pietro. It seems that he did not arrive with me, but considering the nature of where we are and shifting realities, any news as to whether he was here in the past would be appreciated.

[She shouldn't really need to add that if he arrives in the future she'd also like to know, right? Surely everyone here has some common sense regarding such matters. From all of the FAQ's she's read recently, they seem more on top of matters than she might have expected of most people. Wanda pauses, and after a moment continues.]

Also, has anyone managed to determine how many different dimensions and points in time we represent on board? Which worlds are similar and which ones are clearly separate, for instance?

[She's curious, not just because of her own dealings with altering reality, but because she's hoping that someone will be able to give her a basic idea of who she's dealing with on board and perhaps even which ones are from worlds similar to her own. Mentioning mutants or any groups by name would draw attention she's not sure she wants yet. Not until she knows who's listening on the other end.]

Well, it is taken for granted here that they are "altered" indeed - that time, at home, stands still, et cetera. Yet that doesn't account for the fact that even when people die here, they're still remembered as present at home. People go missing, yet are still remembered at home, even when they never return; that indicates that "home" is different for multiple people.

Perhaps we're not entirely transported here. If we were, for instance, copies of ourselves from a particular point in our personal timelines, it would explain both the fact that those who die here do not cease to exist back home, as well as why someone may not be noted as missing while they are here.

[Being a copy would better explain why she, more or less a dead woman walking, is alive and whole on the Tranquility.]

Disturbing, but less so than others, considering. It's much easier to think that everyone here is in fact safe in their own dimension, rather than so many of us being plucked out of time and our proper reality.

Yet that would mean, you realize, that there is no future for us.

Would it matter if we're not actually the people we suppose ourselves to be?

[He starts to speak with a bit more heat.] Of course it would. How could it not? Even aside from the mere fact of the thing, the implications would be terrible.

True, though in the end I suppose it all depends entirely on what our purpose here is to begin with.

[She exhales a moment, brushing her hair out of her face.]

May I ask who it is I'm speaking to?

[He starts to address that first comment, but then decides that a bit of politeness wouldn't be altogether unwarranted:]

Miles Edgeworth. An attorney, currently serving on our security team.

[Well that explains why he's as well spoken as he is, though his serving the security team is interesting.]

A pleasure, Mr. Edgeworth.

[And, surprisingly, she means it. There are few people she finds can hold their own in a conversation of this nature.]

Was your research into this matter for the security team or something you took upon yourself?

The latter, Ms. Maximoff; security is concerned with keeping people safe rather than getting us home. Some few private individuals are indeed looking into why we're here, but that is not the province of any organized team.

May I take it, though, that this is of interest to you?

From what I've heard of this place one could argue that the matter of getting everyone home is related to keeping them safe, but I understand your meaning.

But yes, this is of interest to me. I've browsed through some of the literature other passengers have put together however it seemed best to address everyone at large in case there was any additional information that could be gained.

The simplest answer is that I too work on a security team whose purpose it is to keep people safe.

In what capacity?

In whatever capacity they needed. Generally speaking in the field as opposed to intelligence gathering or support.

You did, but you've not stated whether you're asking for the purposes of recruitment or otherwise.

[Well isn't that welcome. She can't say that she believes him entirely, though his tone of voice would suggest he's being sincere.]

In that case, unless you've any reasonable objection I'd prefer to answer your questions and ask my own in person at a later date. I've only just arrived with the most recent jump and still have a great deal of catching up to do.
