Given all that has happened lately, we need more help down in Shuttle Bay.
We currently have 5 shuttles properly running and we need more if we ever have to leave here.
So if you're interested in helping there let one of us know, we'll answer any questions you may have.

We're also looking for a few others who are willing to learn to fly – idiots need not apply.

Hah, got it. Now listen up, if you’re hearing this it’s because you’re about to throw in and offer your no doubt endless talents to a good cause down here in the shuttle bay. I thought it only fair to warn you that we don’t take nerds who can’t keep their mouths shut down here. [ No breaking Obi-Wan, okay? ] We want hard workers and only hard workers, because if the shit hits the fan you lot are going to be grateful that there’s a fleet of shuttles kept ship shape to save your sorry asses.

And if you want to learn to fly, you’d better have a good sense of direction and survival instinct, because with Captain Fry as your teacher you’re going to need it.

York. [ she mentally notes his name for later, opting to stick with call-signs at first (easier that way) ] Kara - Kara Thrace. [ she would mention starbuck, but only her friends and pilots from home tend to use that. ]

When can you be down to the bay, York?

Anytime you want. Right away, if it'll get me on your good side. [ she can't see his winning smirk, of course, but the smile is evident in his voice. ]

[ she just snorts loudly at that, and if he could see her, he'd know she was rolling her eyes. ] So you're an ass-kisser huh?

[ He doesn't need to be able to see her to guess that. He laughs. ]

Nope, I never need to resort to that. I was just thinking, it's good to build a rapport early on.

[ for some damn reason, kara felt the need to flip the video feed on here, just so she could show her clearly unimpressed look. (deep down she might be somewhat amused by this all though) ]

Try not to get one of us killed and don't frak up...and maybe you can build a rapport.

[ his finger hovers over the video control for just a moment before he stops hesitating and turns it on. no need to hide the fact that he has a bad eye. and he likes being able to communicate face-to-face, even if it's over a comm feed. ]

[ war wounds are war wounds, and kara is sadly use to them, so she doesn't even flinch at his appearance. ]

What exactly was your job - other than system security and infiltration?

Elite special forces. Infiltration was my role on the team. We got in and out covertly, if possible. [ That was a pretty simplified explanation, since Freelancer wasn't officially military at all, but it was good enough to convey the gist of things. ]

So military? [ she can get behind that, as she herself is military and understand the mentally behind those better than most. ]

We worked for the military. [ Ostensibly, anyway. He's still not sure if they ever actually ran any legitimate missions. But again, he's telling her what she needs to hear. ]
