[001] [Video]
[Fiddling about with the device, Kabuto couldn’t help a tiny laugh of all things. This was different from the technology he knew, but nothing he couldn’t figure out with some fiddling about. Managing to get the video to switch out he gave the most genuine smile he could muster, trying to make it seem as if he was totally innocent and just some kind of silly man that’d ended up in this nonsense. It usually worked with him, usually.]
You know, it’s rather interesting, to be thrown into this situation with technology that is so familiar and yet so much different from your own. I have to say that I’m rather intrigued with how everything around this place works, and even a lab to work in. I haven’t had a chance to have a proper lab with proper light in such a long time that it feels almost like a blessing.
[He pauses for a moment, messing with his hair for a moment, undoing and redoing the pony tail to get rid of the stray hairs in his face. How obnoxious, honestly.]
So! I figure since we’re all stuck here that I should introduce myself and offer my services as they may be needed. My name is Kabuto and where I came from I was one of the best medics and scientists we had, so if you happen to have any questions or need some medical help, I’d be glad to help you out. I may not look it, but I assure you that even at such a young age that I have surpassed the greatest medic we have back in my home.

So you know a lot about animals, plants and all that? [ A small nod in understanding as she then starts rubbing at the back of her neck in thought. Adding: ] Where exactly are you from? [ Because this is always going to be relevant in some way she feels. ]
Animals, plants, the human body as well. Can't say I'm the typical of my kind.
[But how to explain where he's from exactly is... a bit harder to do.] Somewhere where this space nonsense isn't an idea by any means. Though I think the simplest way to put it is that I'm a... wanderer of sorts.
A scientist nonetheless. [ Which was always going to be slightly impressive to Ariadne, as knowledge was power after all. Giving him a slow nod in understanding, letting her brow rise slightly as she clearly was still curious. (She would rather know all she could after all. It helped in the long run.) ] From Earth though?
[audio]
I was, yes. Though we had no real knowledge of anything outside of our planet, I'm afraid. Poisons I know rather well, even if those I'm used to weren't of the lunar variety.
[audio]
[He sounds incredibly positive for someone with a deadly illness.]
But really, getting it outta' my system would be appreciated. What's the rest of your resume like, kid?
[audio]
We all do crazy things for science, don't we? And it shouldn't be much of a problem if it acts and goes through the system like a typical poison should. Seeing as... this place hasn't seen fit to get rid of my ability to use chakra.
[OH THIS IS THE BEST RESUME, haha.]
I was trained a shinobi and in the medical field since I was able to be taught, leaving me with... about ten years or so experience and honing of said abilities. Was a former member of Konoha, but left there to seek other opportunities with my former master, Orochimaru, he taught me many more things than anyone of my age and abilities could possibly learn.
For a broad sense, I can get details if you wish. And I'm not a kid.
[audio]
You're younger than me, I'm gonna' call you a kid. Unless you're actually older than me, in which case I'm gonna' have to ask you your secret to youth, ha ha.
[Chakra? Shinobi? Konorochiwho? Must be one of those eastern medics...]
How's that chakra stuff work--Nothin' like voodoo or witchcraft, I take it?
[IT'D BETTER NOT BE WITCHCRAFT...]
[audio]
I thought I'd outgrown the "kid" nickname about six years ago, seems I was wrong. Oh well.
[Change to video here.]
[Instead of just answering he looks around, taking a bottle he'd been drinking on and breaking off a shard of glass. Once that's done he puts a large gash into his leg without even flinching.]
It's more like energy of the body. [He laughs a little bit to himself, placing his hands over the open wound and with a bit of blue light around his hands heals it rather quickly.]
Just like that.
[audio]
Given the choice, Cave would have exposed one of employees to ground up moon rocks and then sent them over to Kabuto as a test--like a taste-tester, but with your body and well being--before going himself. Unfortunately, he lacks the ground up moon rocks.]
That is fantastic, provided that was not some smoke and mirrors illusion. How much you want for your hands?
[ text ]
I suppose I am interested in general.
Ah, and pleased to meet you, Kabuto-san. I am Japan.
[Voice]
This whole space thing confounds me, as well, but shinobi never did have much need for things outside of our own little world.
[A bit of a pause, such an odd name.] A pleasure.
[ voice ]
[Wait, he catches the shinobi comment and pauses.]
...It's strange for me to think that a shinobi would know much of advanced technology at all.
[ voice ]
Hm? We've been this way for quite some time, we still rely on older things, I admit. But we do have technology for when it suits our purposes or the purposes of the village people. Computers aren't really... a new thing.
[ voice ]
[But he thinks on that next part.]
I have heard different universes are a common thing here. I admit I am now quite eager to hear about Kabuto-san's, if he would be so kind.
[ voice ]
[How does he explain this, good grief. Excuse him while he switches it to a private message as explaining it is a little strange on his part.]
It's not terrible interesting, to be perfectly honest. But I suppose I could give a run-down of the layout if you're like.
[ voice ]
Seeing as ninja were mercenaries strictly of feudal Japan, I am interested that they could exist in a world with things like computers. Ah, so yes, I would appreciate that.
[ voice ]
At the very basic form, our world is a combination of what we call the Five Great Shinobi Countries. They're called Earth, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Wind. Each of the countries has their main shinobi village, headed by leaders called Kage, though there are smaller villages scattered about, as well. The villages themselves are Iwa, Konoha, Kumo, Kiri, and Suna, respectfully.
You could pretty much call them the biggest powers in the world and their Kage tend to be the strongest shinobi of the world, but not always. Amongst those you have shinobi of varying ranks that are under the control of the Kage and are there to do what is needed, whether it be helping the citizens, protecting the village, or helping another village outside of their own.
It's a... strange system to outsiders, I'm sure. I could go into more detail about the smaller villages, but that may take some time.
[ voice ]
He's also starting to wonder if it's rude to ask so many questions in the first meeting. Woops.]
Ah, forgive me if I have been forward. This is all very interesting, so I would like to hear more if Kabuto-san ever has the time, but there is certainly no rush.
[ voice ]
I have the time, all I was doing was wandering about trying to get my bearings straight. Nothing particularly important and having to be done right this second.
May as well explain some of the smaller villages, they aren't technically shinobi villages by definition as there's no head of it formally, but they're still considered as such.
If I remember them all correctly, there's Ame, Ishi, Kusa, Oto, Taki, Uzushio, and Yu. There may be others, but I honestly can't remember them that well. The odd thing about some of them is that they still have leader that may call themselves Kage, but they aren't true ones. I have little information on them, other than Ame and Oto.
[ voice ]
Is war a common thing? [He expects the answer to be yes, but the point is he wants to hear about it...]
[ voice ]
There's fights an squabbles between them, but there's only been a handful of full-blown "wars". There's only been... three, if I recall correctly. [Soon to be four, but details.]
[ voice ]
[A pause.]
Ah, I appreciate all of this information. Perhaps I can return the favor for Kabuto-san at some point, so please do not be afraid to ask if anything is needed. [He's new here but... Maybe technology talks? He doesn't really expect much.
Also, he sounds done asking for now, but questions may come up in later conversations. Sob.]
[ voice ]
[That's a rather intriguing prospect, but he's not too terribly sure on what to ask, hm.]
It's not a problem at all, it's... a bit interesting to explain it, really. Though if you don't mind my prying, you knew of shinobi already?
[ voice ]
Ah, that is, in the country of Japan. It is a Japanese word, and a Japanese mercenary.
