The queen is here.

[It's the first voice post she's made, and there is so much emotion in her voice that it's hard to tell if she's angry, scared, or just excited.

She isn't the girl she was, outspoken and forward but innocent. That girl is gone, and the one that took her place is harder and fiercer.]

A girl has tarried long enough. [And she sounds almost as vicious as the wolf she pretends isn't here.]

You cannot kill the queen, [ she says. Not should not, but cannot. The distinction is important in Alayne's mind, though she's certain Arya will not mark it. ]

A girl's hair grows. She needs her head shaved smooth again.

[ It probably says something, that Alayne is the only one she trusts to hold a knife against her skin. But she isn't thinking about that ]

[ She sounds a bit mortified, though it is as much a response to what the girl intends to do than simply a request to have her head shaved. ]

Why— why is that important?

It just is. [ A girl is losing her control, and it's a struggle to reach for it again, especially now. ]

A girl - a girl doesn't want fleas. [ Mummers shaved their heads to make wearing their wigs easier. She had wigs to wear, now. But she did not want to share that, not yet. ]

[ There is the girl that Alayne remembers. The one who disliked Sansa and thought her stupid, who Sansa thought was willful and bullish in turns. She does not know which girl she likes better. This one or the one with no name, calm and deliberate.

Alayne, in turn, also looses some of her patience. Her response is not smooth and elegant, but terse, almost snappish. ]
