Tranquility.

[ It's with a warm sort of politesse that Petyr addresses the network this time around, a crimson sash draped over one of his shoulders and a new set of robes upon his frame. Visible next to him, at the fringe of the image, is a girl with chestnut brown hair and her hands folded in her lap, who should prove familiar to at least some upon the ship. ]

I inquired some months ago as to the existence of a physical library, and was informed that the ship lacked such a facility. As such, I have taken it upon myself to begin one for the sake of those who would prefer the feel of a solid page than the, ah. Furnishings that the ship provides. My collection is meager, but it is more than what was available upon my arrival. Should you care to take advantage of it, I can be found upon the fifth level, next to the quarters that Alayne Stone — [ at the mention, the girl sitting next to him smiles prettily and offers up a wave ] — keeps as a seamstress. She has offered her help in my endeavor, to care for the books in my absence.

That said, should you be willing to part with them, we would greatly appreciate any spare books that you might have. This service is without charge, and meant simply for the comfort of those upon the ship.

I have taken the liberty of attaching the list of the books collected so far, and hope that some of you, at least, will find some use in it.

[ And, with a duck of his head, the feed cuts out. ]

ATTACHMENT.

[ A pause and then Alayne's expression grows curious, as if Lucrezia has said something odd, indeed. What was it that Percy Jackson had said about myths? Had he not mentioned the Greeks and— Romans! Surely, the Romans came from Rome. ]

Are the Greek gods not your gods as well?

I have only one God, my sweet. Once, many years ago, the Romans worshiped many gods, each with a name and a role our world. While the gods of the Greek and the gods of the Roman had similar roles, they had different names and the myths changed somewhat. Still, we all had a God for the sea and a Goddess of love; only the Romans name her Venus and the Greek Aphrodite.

[ One god. Alayne whispers the phrase to her silently. What a strange thought — was he red, like the god of Asshai? She is curious about why the Romans gave up their gods, why they would think only one god would suffice when they'd had so many before. ]

Will you tell me of your God of the sea? [ A pause. ] Did he have sons who walked the earth as mortal boys?

Neptune is his name. The ancient Roman god of the water and the sea. He could have those if he would have loved a human woman. Imagine, if a beautiful lady walked along the coastline in a dress of airy silks and her air flowing around her face because of the breeze, her feet bare against the sand, that lady might have been lovely and special enough to capture the attention of the great Neptune himself. In such a case, he would wear the form of a handsome sailor and take her for a lover and she would give birth to a son would be half god half man and would walk the earth as any boy. Many legends existed of such.

It is somewhat of a sad thing, being loved by a God. An impossible love, for all its grandeur.
