[As the camera clicks on, those who know Remus will notice how tired he looks. Not simply as if he hasn't gotten a night's sleep, but truly exhausted-- as if he's been on a long journey, or suffered some great hardship. The circles beneath his eyes are too dark, and there's a long pink scar forming on his right cheek.

Still, he gives the camera a smile, albeit a tired and nervous one.]

Ah-- hello. I do hope this is working properly; I haven't precisely had much practice with cameras. But-- yes. My name is Remus Lupin, and, as most of you know, I've been technically on-board the Tranquility for some months now. However, I've no memory of this-- really, it's as if this is my first month. So please, if I knew you but you haven't heard from me in a while, it's nothing to do with you, I assure you.

[The smile fades now.]

Which brings me to my second point. I've, ah, heard it said that I was rather free with this information, so I suppose it's no longer a secret. But--

[He glances behind him uncertainly, as if seeking support from someone unseen, and then nods.]

Well. I'm a werewolf. No jokes, please, I assure you I've heard them all. And-- well, we're taking every safety precaution we know, Sirius and I, but-- just so you know. I'll post up what days I'm dangerous, simply so no one stops by my room while I'm changed.

[He gives them a thin smile.]

And finally: a simple question. How many people, precisely, have duplicates or twins aboard the ship? Not biologically, I mean, but-- people who look like that, for no discernible reason at all.

England! I mean, certainly there are prejudices in the laws, and there are always lawmakers trying to convince people we're subhuman-- but hunting us isn't legal!

[ wait what. ]

No! God, no, what-- what are you-- look, where are you from? I can't think of a country in the world that treats werewolves that way, and you sound American, and I know America has some definite protective laws when it comes to creatures like us.

We don't. The small number of people who know about us? They hunt us. Like animals.

[He swallows, his face gone pale.]

We must be from-- from different world,s then. Different times, or something-- because god, Derek, that's nothing like where I'm from.

It doesn't matter here. Here you have to be careful because if someone from where I'm from shows up here, they'll come after you.

[At that, his expression hardens somewhat.]

They can try. I certainly doubt they'll succeed.

[ there's a pause. ]

How old are you?

Fifteen. Sixteen in two months.

[He rubs his face.]

But I'm not entirely unpracticed in magical combat.

[ oh dear god. it's scott all over again. ]

If anyone comes for you, I can protect you.

And I you, if it comes to it. We have to stick together, after all. Am I right in thinking you aren't a wizard, then?

[ we have to stick together, and that smacks of pack, of something that makes the alpha in his blood sing out. ]

No. Just a wolf.

[ but stiles might be. ]

Well. You're certainly more, er, in shape than I-- if it comes down to a physical confrontation, I have no doubt you'd win. But if it comes to something more magical-- again, I'm trained for that. Do they have magic, these hunters?

They use bullets.

[His smile is thin and full of quiet anger.]

Sociopaths with guns. How charming. But, again, no match for the two of us, I should think, especially if we work together.

[He blinks, startled by that.]

I-- I don't think I've ever been part of anyone's pack before. I don't even know if we have packs where I'm from-- you're the only other werewolf I've ever met, apart from the others on here.

There's a first time for everything.

[ so, so dryly. ]

How many others are here?

Two or three, I think. I'm not entirely certain yet. Er-- what does it mean, to be in a pack?

[ there's a long pause. ]

[He stares for a few seconds, shocked and deeply flattered all at once.]

And-- and you want me to be part yours? You're certain?

Yes.

But you barely know me! I'm flattered, Derek, don't get me wrong, but I don't understand why you want me!
