[Well, here goes nothing. He's been reading the network pretty religiously the past few days, and he's talked to a couple of people, but this is his first venture to post to it himself. He's got a pretty simple request, though.]

I'm looking for Tyke. I was told she could help me get a position with the security team.

My name's John Blake. No references, but I have over five years' experience with the Gotham City Police Department, if that means anything.

Also, he is totally not gonna say 'just doing my job, ma'am. But.]

I just need something to do.

[Being unaware of that, Jane isn't going to say anything. She'd be pretty unnerved if someone told her there was a movie based on her city.]

More than I can offer. Apparently there are no laws here, though. How does that work?

A law doesn't necessarily have to be written down. I'd hope most of the people around here would have a conscience.

Are you sure you're a cop?

[Because Jane has...doubts about the consciences around here. Jesse's given her and Lisbeth the run down, and even if she could tell he was trying not to scare her--well, she was no idiot.]

Last I checked. Then again, I'm not always the greatest at following orders if they're bad.

Then you're not like any cop I've ever met. And trust me, I've met plenty of cops.

[You mean, good? Sob.]

Guess I try to be a decent person, not just do my job.

[Y e o p. Although the cops she met weren't at the institutionalized levels of corruption Gotham cops were.]

Maybe I don't have to hate you on principle, then. I'm one of those dreaded liberal bleeding hearts.

[The locker couldn't have spit out what Jesse had earned? Not that it mattered here, but--just to know it was safely with them would have been nice.]

Not a lot of people do.

Around here, I don't imagine there's much use for money, though.

I know, I know. I'm amazing.

There isn't. I can't be the only one who thinks that's weird, can I?

There are a lot of weird things about this place, from where I'm standing.

No joke. Most of the people here don't seem fazed, but I'm just a normal person from New Mexico. This is all out of my realm of experience. Deeply so.

Never been outside Gotham, myself. Let alone space.

Finally, another average person. Even my boyfriend apparently went on whacky adventures between home and here.

There does seem to be a... percentage of people with unusual skills.

It makes you feel inadequate, am I right?

I mean, at least you're a cop. I'm a tattoo artist and building manager. Unless we have to deal with rental agreements or angry, tattooless bikers, I don't have much to bring to the table.

I've gotten used to feeling inadequate, lately.

Everyone has skills, though. Things that can be useful. They just might not be as straightforward as being able to fight.

I am so not getting into fights around here. For your sake I hope you don't have to either.

[He may be a cop, but he's a person first, and evidently a decent one.]

I'll do what I can. At the very least I won't be dead weight.

I'd rather not fight, either.

I've seen people step up, do things no one expected of them. Things they didn't expect of themselves. I think everyone's capable, in one way or another.

So how much does Hallmark pay you?

[Despite the joke--she's genuinely moved, a little. She hasn't seen hope like that in years, and suddenly--is she protective of a cop?]

[Do they have to arm wrestle over who is the protector? She'll whoop your butt, funny ears.]

You really should look into that job opportunity. I'm sure it pays more than what you do now.

And considering he technically hasn't had a job or any source of income for months, that is more true than he is willing to say.]

That's very possible. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever get home.
