[Been here for almost two weeks now, he thinks.

Going out has been a struggle for Alex that not many know about—mainly just one guy about a week ago who figured out he wasn't very social. Not that many people know he exists here to begin with; he's perfectly content to be invisible, soak into the metaphorical corner where he tended to always settle. Even now he's only gone out a few times (if only to humor that one guy who will probably drag him back out again if he didn't at least say he left). He mainly ventured out after nightmares, or when he feels stuffy. Or when he needs food or a bathroom.

Otherwise? Still sort of an awkward turtle, and his attempts to mingle have been zero. But he's actually picking up his device for once and considers maybe using it. Maybe.

... Well, might as well give it a try. He does have an important question.]

Anyone know where I can find bullets for a gun?

[God, initiating conversation was never his strong suit.]

It's a Mk 23 pistol; they didn't stock me with anything, so I figured I might as well ask, in case anyone has something. I don't plan on using it, but it pays to be prepared for the worst. [He scratches his forehead, wondering if something like that was a little too hopeful. Finding good ammunition in a place like this, that is.] ... Maybe it's a pretty lousy request, knowing how hard some things are to find around here. Wherever 'here' is. We could be just about anywhere, could we? It's pretty damn weird, even if it's not new to me... To be honest, I kinda thought I was hallucinating or something when I first got here.

[And then he's lost in thought for a moment... Actually, it reminds him of something else. Something distant, but something he loved a lot. For whatever it was worth.]

Kinda' sucks about the lack of weather, though. I wasn't a fan of winter, but... I would've liked to see some summer days around. My hometown was foggy or cold or wet a lot of the time, but during the summer? It was pretty sunny. A little more busy, too... Nice. Didn't mind the place as much when it was like that.

[One thing he liked about Shepherd's Glen. Summer break was a great time to escape the house and do whatever the hell he wanted.

He supposes that's all unimportant now that he's grown up and gone from a ghost town.]

[Ammo... oh yes, this was going to be another thing she'd have to worry about eventually. She replies to the feed with a thoughtful expression, drumming her fingers against a nearby surface.]

If you figure it out -- heheh -- let me know; somehow I doubt the ammunition in my own gun is going to last forever.

Just an empty gun and an axe, basically. I guess if all else fails I can throw the damn thing at something's face.

But it'd be a lot more useful if it had bullets in it, I'd say.

But the comment about throwing it in someone's face actually gets a genuine laugh from her, and it shows as she breaks from the perpetual nervous expression she usually held.]

Heeheehee~! The SOCOM does tend to be pretty heavy, doesn't it~? You might actually be able to do some damage that way!

[Annie is still so shaken from her last--talk, she doesn't trust her face. She doesn't trust her anything.]

You should learn to use something with no ammunition you can't make.

Throwing knives. A bow. Like that.

Gunnery might have something for it. Only give out to SEC though.

[Not that it would work, since he's got a flintlock pistol and his is definitely more modern. But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Aye. The sun be one of the things I miss most.

Uh, Maine--the weather jumps crazy extremes sometimes, but it's worth it in the summer. And we weren't too far from the beach, so if it ever got too hot my brother'd convince the folks to drive us there...

[It's a depressing subject to think about, but now that they were gone, he couldn't stop thinking of times like these. He wished he could, but...]

SEC... Security group, right? Should've guessed as much. Maybe I'll give it a look-see. I dunno if I'd be much help anywhere else, to be honest.

I could definitely make knives, I think... I'm crappy at knife throwing, but. I could learn. [Because it's true, he's realizing--you have to be able to make weapons, too. The first thing he'd picked up to use as a weapon in Silent Hill was a pipe. While his knife wasn't half bad, it didn't have a long reach.

And he didn't have it here anymore. Didn't have anything but an axe and an empty gun.

On the bright side, he used to poke around with knife throwing; out on the lake during the summer, when it was dark out and everyone was cuddling up with someone, drinking, whatever. The boys'd take turns throwing knives into the trees. Wasn't even much of a drunken teenage thing; lotta' the camping tourists were as simplistic too, out in the woods. Talk about a special form of darts.]

Alright. Well, it's like a metal slingshot that's a lot more dangerous. It's a little bullet that shoots with more power, like an arrow. It's strong enough to shoot straight through a person sometimes, so if you ever see one lying around, I wouldn't mess with it.

[Wait--He turns for a moment to fiddle with his network device, and then sends a little image file of a gun for the guy. It's not the same gun Alex has, but the image is universal enough.]

Looks like this. It takes some practice to know how to handle it, though.

That's alright; I get that people wouldn't want to lose any ammo, considering how sparing it is around here.

Wish there was some way to at least have a day and night thing around here. I heard there's a garden or something. Somewhere more like earth.

You got training or experience?

[ frodo peers in with furrowed brows, frowning a bit at the trigger. ]
Do you press that strangely shaped indention to fire it? Are there many battles where you come from?

Yeah I know, pretty strange. But it did get me through some tough situations. When you run out of ammo, anything sharp and ranged a little helps a lot.

[The Order soldiers were the worst, though--some of them had guns. He only hopes he doesn't have to go against a rifle or projectile of any sort, because they tend to be messy.]

They said something about monsters showing up here once. So maybe the axe'll be helpful if it happens again...

My father was military, taught me a few things. How to use a knife and a gun, lessons like that. I was sort of training myself to go into the army when I was eighteen... But then some things happened and I ended up fighting monsters instead.

[That's a good enough explanation of the situation, right.]

Mm, yeah. That's right. It's made to fit your finger. That's why when you hold a gun, you always keep your fingers away from that indention unless you're planning to shoot it.

[He figures if he doesn't know guns, he might as well give him a few tips.]

There are... a lot of battles, definitely. Just, uh... got back from a pretty bad one, myself.

[It was less a battle and more a struggle to stay alive, but...]

[Oh. This Annie can do. Even if thinking about it--it's too close right now, but no, she has to do what's right. A gun runs out. A knife can be recovered.]

Aye! Oxygen gardens, they are. Not bad, if you're lookin' for a bit less...

[Alex can't even help groaning at that. Between Silent Hill, otherworldly shit, mental institutions, metal doors, metal ladders, metal grates, rusty walls, rusty floors, metal metal metal—] I'm sick of metal, man. I could go the rest of my life without another metal wall.

Guess I can't really change that, but... the oxygen gardens sounds like a decent daily trip, now that I think about it.
