captain's log | 013 | video
[the video clip clicks on to a sideways angle of Kirk's face. he's holding the communicator up, but it's less to show what's going on and more so that he can speak into it. he's crouched down, though, and you can almost see what's going on.
he's facing a figure and from the sharp cut of his black hair you can tell it's Spock next to him with his head bowed forward, collapsed and kneeling with both of his hands on the wall. Jim's eyes are wide with worry and tension, half bent forward with one hand on the other man's back.]
——are two. Anger... More than... more than...
Come on, Spock, stay with me buddy——
I need medical assistance to the ninth floor hallway of the passenger decks, and I need it now!
[Jim's voice is authoritative and clipped, leaving no room for argument and making it clear this is a crisis situation. if he was going to say something else, he's completely derailed when Spock starts slumping to the left.]
Spock!
[Kirk drops his communicator next to his knee and scrambles forward, grabbing at the Vulcan's broad shoulders and moving so that he ends up half sprawled with his head in Jim's lap.]
Bones, I need you!
[his voice is raised at the communicator he can no longer reach; it isn't panic, but it's definite distress. honestly, he doesn't care which doctor gets here first, as long as someone hustles their ass up here.]
[ooc: Kirk & Spock c: anyone from the Enterprise can assume they knew that Spock was going to mind meld with the ship but nobody else will have known! also this is open to action.]

Making sure that the medbay is ready to receive Spock is the best idea. It'll keep them out of the way, make sure Spock gets to Medical as quickly as possible. That's the most important thing right now.]
He'll be alright. [Even if he's not entirely sure of it, he sounds like he is.] You just wait an' see, he'll be right as rain an' givin' us that eyebrow for runnin' around gettin' all worried about him.

[ she steps back when he presses the button, licks the corner of her mouth. hands fold, unfold. she's fidgeting. nyota uhura is... fidgeting. ]
Okay.
[ and now she's just going to step back until she can lean against the wall of the lift, eyes up on the little lights that blink every time they pass a different floor. it's not that she ignored Mr. Scott, it's quite the opposite. this is how she deals, maybe, just stays quiet and internally convinces herself to move from emotional to logical, to let the shift happen gradually instead of forcing herself to put on a brave face right away.
eventually, she smiles, a little, lets her gaze drop to her crewmate again. ]
You're right. Of course you're right. Besides, the captain is going to be going out of his mind over it. We'll have to- [ "-look out for him" was she really going to just say that about Jim Kirk? hu'tegh. ] - have to make sure he doesn't try anything stupid. [ there, good. that sounded better. ]

He gives Uhura a bit of a wink, a conspiratorial grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.]
Practically in the job description, keepin' the captain from doin' anything stupid. [And this? This is how he copes. He jokes, makes light of things, keeps himself from focusing on all the ways things could go run and focuses instead on how to hold everything together, how to fix things, keep things running smoothly.]

You know, that's one of the things I was thinking about, back home. Once we were all assigned to the Enterprise, who in the world would be assigned as his Yeoman? I know a few of the graduates from the program that might be up for the challenge, but they would have to find someone remarkably tolerant. And then I picture it being this very serious, nanny-like figure. In her late fifties, with years of experience under her belt. [ looking at the floor now as she smiles, because these are just the random things she daydreams about okay it's amusing don't you judge her ] She would have to team up with Commander Spock in making sure Kirk doesn't get himself beat up too bad from all those impulse decisions he makes. But then, after some time, she would end up fussing that way over the whole crew; making sure we eat right and sleep well. Which is why... I'm actually really glad the captain doesn't have a yeoman here yet.

I don't mind a bit o' bein' looked after. Provided it's in small doses, mind. [And provided it doesn't interfere with Getting Things Done. In his career he's had his fair share of being fussed at for working too much - as if there's any such thing.] So long as she doesn't look like my mam, so I don't feel guilty for tellin' her t'find someone else t'fuss over.

finally, the lift stops at the medbay, and she sucks in a deep breath when the doors open, allowing them to step out. ]
Now we just need to hope that some of the medical staff stayed behind...

If no'... Bound t'be a doctor or two in the crew, aye? Someone we can call, maybe?
[He hopes so, anyway. He hasn't been here long enough to properly familiarize himself with the rest of the unfortunates who got pulled here.]
