[Why are things floating.

Libby sits (this time on a table in the kitchens--chairs exist, girl, why are you like this) and she is surrounded by slowly drifting utensils.

She's already figured out how to lie about it. She never told anyone she wasn't telekinetic. (Because who does that?). So she'll just say they made her like this, and Jesse's secret will be protected while Libby gets to show off--because this is wicked sharp, and even makes her confident enough to roll up her sleeves, baring scars and soft white feathers.

She grins at the camera, which she turned on with her mind.]

'Sup, bitches.

[She's not opening this up to the network for any reason. Can't a girl just be bored?]

[What she sends to her--crew, that's what she calls them. Her crew, like she's some fucking gangbanging idiot.

But they're not her friends, and allies sounds so formal. So crew it is. (She knows that Jesse is a surprisingly good hugger, that Mouse has a sweet smile, that Nikolai doesn't want to be called Nik. She has to be careful, here, because if she's not--she's going to end up wanting to keep them around. She'll actually like them, and then where will she be?)

(It's already over.)

What she sends them is different. Still things floating, still on a table, but she looks serious for once.]

'Kay.

Status reports, if you got 'em. And I got one.

So--we're Jesse, Mouse, and Nikolai, right now. And me, obvious. Jesse, Mouse, Nikolai is going to be our protection around here.

But that's complicated, because--I've got in with Loki, too, and he is--wicked dangerous. But I want what he's got. And he can be useful. But I'll handle him, 'kay? He doesn't know you, just me, and--look what I can do.

[She waves her hand around and smiles, briefly, before--serious, again.]

I'll drop him when we can't use him anymore. Promise. But stay the fuck away from him, he's bad fucking news.

[ This is why she doesn't get why everyone was so surprised to see her standing there with Crowley. She knows how to use her looks for what she wants, isn't shy about doing it -- doesn't see the big deal. ]

[Pragmatic. Libby admires that, even if her and Crowley together make her uneasy. That's why, pragmatic and sexy or not, Libby doesn't even think of recruiting. Besides, they have Sigyn now, for sex appeal.]

Not mine. I practically offered and he said he doesn't fuck little girls.

[So casual. Like this is no big deal, nothing to fuss over.]

What's smoking like, for you?

[ Crowley should make her uneasy. Jaye would include herself in that if it weren't for the fact that she knows Crowley is the bigger threat. But she's not good at follow the leader anyway, has to have her loyalty earned. ]

Yeah, I've got those standards too. [ Not that she cared when she was sixteen, but it's different now. Even though a lot of times she still throws back to a sixteen-year-old's attitude. ]

What's it like? [ Eyebrow raise. ] Never really thought about it.

[They're alike, in a way. Use monsters to defend against monsters, except Lobby is trading her monster for a man. A strong man, lethal, but only human. But Libby can tell it would never work with Loki. Sooner or later--

--and maybe part of Libby, for all her self-description, is afraid of monsters.]

Well, you don't look queer, so I wasn't going to ask.

[Maybe your boss. He seems like a sick fuck.]

I just...don't smoke. Lung problems. But it looks rad.

[ Crowley was the first to talk about things she knew, angels and demons, and she'd been drawn to it. It was stupid, is stupid, but Jaye would rather be close to him, something useful instead of something he wouldn't have to think twice about getting rid of.

Not that she thinks he won't get rid of her if he has to, but at least this way she gets a bit of info. Crowley's kept what he is secret, but Jaye knows. ]

I don't do it much. But blowing smoke in people's faces is fun.

[It makes perfect sense to Libby, and she's half guessed it already. Jaye is just too rad not to be running an angle. She's getting something out of it, and probably more than Crowley knows.]

It looks wicked fun.

[There has to be a way. She's got things to trade, things beside her body, and if it comes down to that--Nikolai might not fuck little girls, but other people do.

But tbey need tobacco long term. She has to think.]

[ Crowley probably doesn't quite understand just how much Jaye enjoys the sex, either. Not that most people really want to think about Crowley fucking anyone. ]

Haven't seen him without one really, but I also haven't seen a lot of him.

Might be some tobacco growing in the oxygen garden, but I haven't looked for it so I wouldn't know.

[ If she's that desperate to find more, well... she's the same age Jaye was when she ended up on the streets. She can give her some tips. ]

[Libby certainly does not, but as long as Jaye has a good time--good for her, getting hers. Like smoking, she can't relate, but she does sometimes wonder what enjoying it would be like.]

It has religious use. Customs and stuff. It's probably there--if it is, I'll find it.

[Libby knows about barter already, but--she'd appreciate the offer. Not desperate, exactly, but her crew is a machine. She needs to provide what it needs to continue functioning at a high efficiency. This is one of those things.]

[ And she's almost surprised that Libby knows that, considering how few people seem to pay any mind to that sort of thing on the ship. There's a slight shift, one hand tucking some of her long hair away behind an ear. Instead of the gold and turquoise earrings she was wearing earlier, she's wearing her favorite pair now: silver, with howling wolves, silver feathers, and a black stone separating the two. ]

You a believer? [ Not a worshipper, because that's different -- Jaye believes in all the gods, but Coyote is who she serves. She'll sometimes pray to the others, offer them some power, but Coyote is her god and she's his master minder, and he will always come first. ]

Nah. [Then, because Jaye is rad, Libby goes on.]

I knew a medicine man once. He was wicked calm all the time, safe to be around. He showed me all kinds of shit. Used to said I had a bird spirit, it was why i could never settle. And fuck, maybe he's right. Good thing it's a big cage, huh?

Nice earrings. I guess you believe. Is that weird on a spaceship?

Every cage has a door. [ She'd said something similar to Erik, when he said he'd rather die than be in a prison. Jaye would rather live and fight to get out. ]

I didn't used to, but yeah, now I do. And it's... [ weird and frustrating and so many other things ] ... it fucking sucks, yeah. We've got Thor around, got Loki, living fucking gods, but the gods from home? Not sure if they can reach. [ She's pretty sure Coyote would have come to yell at her for her life choices by now, if he could. ]

And then we've got the little fuckers who say your god isn't real, when there's no fucking point to it because we've got Thor and Loki fucking walking around being able to break shit in half. We had Sif too, but she's... fucking gone, I guess. [ Which sucks, Jaye had really liked Sif. ] But I know what I know. Guess I can't make idiots like that believe it when they're so blind to anything else.

You think Loki is legit? I think he's crazy.

[Which is another reason this little bird is going to have her wings snapped.]

But telling people their gods aren't real is just fucking obnoxious. I don't believe in fucking anything and I don't do that. I could be wrong, I don't know.

[Libby hoped she was right, though she wouldn't say it. Wrong, and some god let her exist. She wouldn't want a deity like that. Machines are what she worships.]

Don't know if Loki is, but Thor is. Wrestled him before the jump.

[ She snorts. ]

Yeah, well. The hyper-religious tend to do that.

[ In Jaye's experience, most of them don't care about mortals as much about themselves, their squabbles and their duties. Some do, and she's sure Coyote would say something zen about Libby's existence, but she's not him. ]

[Libby pauses. If she smoked, she'd light up here.]

Not a fan of hyper religious types.

[ And don't be surprised if Jaye tries to push Chase out of an airlock at some point, either. ]

Eh, not the worst ever. The bed rest last month was ass though, that's for goddamn sure. Everyone turning fucking blue and blood coming out my nose and I had to stay there and sleep a certain way. I fucking hate doctors.

[ She couldn't shift, at least not into anything small, because the sickness moved faster; fairly constant shifting kept it at bay, but in the medbay, she would've been too large. And for someone who doesn't like being vulnerable, who doesn't even like sleeping as a human, to be without her biggest weapon when she was sick was torture. ]

[She taps a raised rectangular on her arm, under the skin, scarred in place.

It's also because doctors are legally obligated to turn her in and the ones who won't cost too much. But mostly because Libby lives to do it on her own. She doesn't need them, even if this one nearly killed her.]

I don't think this place does repeats, though.

My boss back home does a lot of natural medicine healing shit. No narcotics that are gonna knock me out.

[ And magic, when she really needs it. Coyote fixed up her ear for her on one memorable occasion when her earring was ripped through it, made it so it didn't even scar -- something he tends not to do for other wounds. ]

Still always tells me to get my ass to the hospital though.

[ Eyeroll. ]

[Not men. Coyotes, apparently.]

That's why I don't have a boss. No one sends me to the hospital. Wicked better.

Girl's gotta get paid somehow. He's not bad, just the hospital thing. Totally worth it.

[ He's the one who gave her the gift, after all. Jaye doesn't want to be without it, and Coyote... he's family now, in a way. She's dog loyal to him, took on a cult for him, and Coyote cares for his minders enough that when they're harmed it isn't the trickster or the calm creator who comes out to play but the canine and his teeth.
