[Have a Bela sitting in the middle of her bed, legs curled up around her with a mug in her hands and she looks contemplative for a few moments before she addresses the network.]

I really want to pretend that last month didn't happen.

[She frowns, taking a sip from her mug of tea, holding it between her hands and lets it warm them.]

Actually, forgetting about it altogether would be better but that's impossible so pretending it is.

[A slight smirk forms on her lips.]

Congratulations to those of you who survived.

[Bela sounds a little bitter, clearly not happy with what she went through in June.]

Perhaps a celebration is in order? Or whatever.

Between the virus and the demons coming on board, I can safely say that yes, it is.

They appeared a few months ago but I kept a low profile then.

Well, there was also the fear gas that made everyone crazy a while back.

Maybe that explains why I haven't heard of it; most of the people I've talked to haven't been around for very long, either.

I think there was about two jump cycles before I arrived so they'll know more than I do.

That's unfortunate. I kept out of that too, thankfully.

I'm very good at keeping myself hidden if need be.

But the fear gas was, you know, everywhere.

The only people I knew who were able to avoid it were somehow already immune.

[A shrug.] Maybe I was immune the whole time and didn't realise it.

Perhaps. [Bela notes how she reacted to the last word but keeps it to herself.] That and the quite advanced medical technology that they have on board this ship. It's incredible.

Speaking of...I don't suppose you know how good they are at healing broken spines, do you?

I'd imagine that they would probably be able to heal something like that. You'll need to ask one of the medical staff to be sure.

Hopefully. I'm not one hundred percent on that.
