[ The feed begins without preamble, and on the left of the screen, Spock is visible- seated beside one Charles Xavier. One of them looks slightly more empathetic than the other, especially given a combination of the subject matter, and time spent in medical bay. Three guesses who. Spock is the first to speak regardless, what has likely become a familiar address after these many months. ]
Greetings Tranquility, this is Spock.
As we have been made aware by passenger Banner’s informative briefing the science lab has provided as many intriguing theoreticals as it has presently unanswerable questions. All attempted scans of the computers therein were inconclusive. Data not in print appeared to have been wiped. [ His fingers steeple in his lap. Someone is less than thrilled by this. ] Documents recovered, appear to focus primarily upon cosmology, quantum chromodynamics, dimensional theory, particle acceleration, and medicine- with the inclusion of research upon the stasis sickness that affected our crew.
[Charles is listening with a pensive and equally thwarted looking expression on his face, though at Spock’s pause on the subject of the more biological end of their findings, he’ll sit forward, drawing a sheet of what looks like bloodied paper towards himself.]
Many of these notes, the ones not rendered illegible by blood, appear to be in various states of completion. It appears as if there was a good deal of work being performed on medicines, including the ‘cure’ we were lead to find a week ago.
[Shifting through the bloodied sheets, Charles frowns thoughtfully before he continues.]
There are other chemical equations that lead me to believe that there was also a dedicated effort being made to stabilize a compound meant to have a calming effect on humans. [Glancing up at the device, Charles tapped the paper before he looked over at Spock and then continued.]
In particular, it appears these compounds were being specialized to treat and prevent psychotic breaks.
Dr. Ross? If you are listening, I would like to discuss something with you.
[He then sits back to allow Spock to continue to debriefing.]
The science department presents an unparalleled opportunity for development, exploration, and study, but not without challenge.
Given an adequate number of interested individuals, I believe the laboratories will be significantly operational in a matter of days. I understand that passenger Clarke has already lead a party through the newly accessible deck and secured the location, however I do not believe it unwise to continue to seek accompaniment from our security team. [ He doesn’t need to elaborate, as he expects it goes unsaid. Their safety has never been guaranteed. ]
[ Private filter to Bruce Banner and Issac Clarke ]
If I may request a moment of your time, gentlemen.

Theories I would suppose would be that either there was not enough time to wipe physical records. I do not claim to have a deep understanding of this level of technology but what I have learned, I know that in the hands of an expert, data can be wiped quickly and widely with but a few key strokes.
Gathering physical records, would take time.
Another possibility and I do not believe any of this has to be to the exclusion of the other, is that either the Department was deemed inaccessible and thus the computer records were wiped remotely and the Department sealed. Also possible is that who ever wiped the computers, did not think there were hard copy notes to be concerned about.
As for the medical files, that could be anything from a mistake, whatever was done to wipe the scientific files bled over to the medical databases to an attempt to deliberately cover tracks.

Honestly, I'm more concerned about the medical records at the moment. Those being deleted... I don't know that I want to consider it a mistake. They shouldn't have had to go near them while they were altering the scientific records. It's another erasure of the old crew, of what could potentially happen to us here, whether that was the intention behind erasing them or not.

For right now, we know that we have creatures that for an unknown reason, contain a strong human genetic component along with animal. We have evidence of medical compounds being developed that correspond with chemical components used in the treatment and preventative of psychotic episodes in the humanoid mind.
Computer records have been erased but we do not know how or why.
We can focus on determining if the notes recovered in anyway directly link to the samples recovered from the Department and these creatures. That will hopefully lead us to our next step.

There may be some compounds on the ship that can clean up the blood without damaging the notes it's covering. We might still not be able to get a full picture from those papers, but we might be able to get a few more pieces.

I can also start transferring these notes to another journal. That way if the originals do get damaged when we try to clean them further, we at least won't lose any of the data.

Once they've been transferred, it might be a good idea to make multiple copies, in case that one is lost or stolen -- or someone tries to destroy those, too.

Has it not already been determined that the systems of this ship are vulnerable, regardless of the level of security enforced? It was my understanding that even encrypted conversations like this, were potentially vulnerable to ... certain native elements aboard ship?
[Basically, Smiley.]

Dr. Ross, my concern would be not only that the information could be wiped but that our own progress could be followed by unseen and possibly hostile parties.

My concern is more that there are other people on this ship who may seek to further their own agenda, whether it's by deciding that there are people on this ship whose abilities should be replicated when they don't understand how they work or how dangerous they might be, by attempting to recreate some of those creatures, or by using the notes to create something that will tamper with the medication. I would like to believe the best out of the people here, but previous experiences have made that difficult.

[Charles hedges a little with a quick glance at Spock.]
There are a few secure means of communication.
But I understand what you are saying. Still, I would argue for maintaining these notes in hard copy form, at least for now.

[ Don't hold back on her, Charles. ]
You brought them back, [ she cedes, one hand moving to tuck a stray strand of hair behind an ear. ]

Not repeatable over a communication that could be intercepted.
[As for the notes, Charles again reaches up to the back of his neck. He can see the validity of both arguments.]
Perhaps just this data could go up on the systems but we keep our conclusions off the network?

[ MORE LIP PRESSING TOGETHER but okay. ]
That might work best. That way if we were all to disappear, the data might still be recoverable for someone else to work out their own conclusions.

Precisely. After all, that is how events are unfolding this time around.
[ The electronic copies were gone but the hard copy footprint had been left behind for those who came next. ]
