[ for a minute you are staring simply at a cieling, a room, and a large bed. just a standard room. until of course there sounds like a bit of mumbling and then the screen suddenly shoots downwards, closer to the ground. apparently whoever is on this screen is very short.
though the face looks young, boyish, the eyes big blue eyes look old and worn-out. and at this moment, very anxious. the ring is safe under his cloak, that's something to be thankful for. ]

I don't really know how to use this thing very well. I'd appreciate a moment of your time.
[ he swallows, looking down, and there are circles under his eyes. ]

My name is Frodo Baggins. I've only just arrived, and am looking for companions I lost when I was taken here. One of them is my size, though..a bit rounder. His name is Samwise Gamgee. I don't think you'll find many hobbits on this ship, but if you find him, please, tell me.

[ he furrows his brows ]
And one stranger, who crawls about and tends to like the shadows. He calls himself 'Smeagol' and you would know him right away by his speech who he was.

One is my dearest friend and the other is both my companion and my guide. I cannot leave this place without them.

[ he swallows, lowering his eyes before glancing back up. ]
And lastly, I need to return to where I was as soon as possible. Is anyone on this ship working on ways to get back? I'd like to speak with you, if I could.
[ the feed goes out quietly. ]

[ feferi had expected him to look a lot better by now, having had time to recover from the jump. the fact that he still seems so tired and unhealthy is very concerning, because even trolls tend to look a little more lively than that. ]

Are you okay, Frodo? You don't look so good.

[ he looks up at her, and offers a small smile. it will take time for his body to heal, though it will heal little thanks to the Ring. ]

I'm much better than I was before, Feferi. I'm just a bit tired, that's all. How are you faring?

I'm great! Everyone on this boat is so nice! [ compared to trolls, at least. it's almost a little unnerving and it makes her feel bad about all that world-conquering her species did. ] - Oh, but I'm sorry you can't find your friends...

[Definitely voice, because he doesn't want to show a guy who looks so worn out a talking skeleton.]

A hobbit, hm? I'll try to keep my eye out.

...Is that a taken name? Or given?

You have never heard of them?
[ he pauses. ]

I assume you speak of Smeagol? No, it was not a given name. It was one he had long ago, simply one that I reminded him of when we met. Others call him Gollum.

[ he knows little of how to respond as she does, he is still new and there is much still to know. ]

I am indeed. Do you know of him?

[ he recalls this fellow's angry voice from his time in aragorn's room. his voice is cautious. ]

Is there anything you have found so far?

I've not seen anyone named Samwise, nor anyone calling themselves Smeagol. But I would direct them to you, if I come across them.

[ beat ]

Many wish to return home, but there is no way that has yet been found. We are all stranded here together.

I would be grateful for any help you would offer me.

[ that is hardly encouraging, and it makes whatever hope he had left in his eyes dim to a dull flicker. his shoulders sag, his face becomes drawn. ]

So we are, it seems. That is unfortunate to hear, though I will try as I may to find one. I cannot afford there being no way at all.

[ oh geez, this fellow looks totally battered. ]

I'm sure others will be saying the same, but we've yet to find a way out of this place. [ pause. ] It looks like landing here's been quite the exhausting trip for you?

I have heard that there is no way yet to be found.
[ that makes his eyes hood a bit. sauron's voice is hardly as present here, but as long as he exists he will never be gone from the ring upon his neck. ]

You could say that. I have traveled far and long before I came here.

JIM JUST FIGURED OUT WHAT'S GOING ON HERE. and here he thought you were a kid in the grav chamber.

his eyes are bright when the feed clicks on.]

The best we have present are working on a way to get back, Frodo. [his smile widens. it's kind of like meeting Sherlock and Watson for the first time.] My name's Jim Kirk.

[ frodo stares a bit puzzled at the eagerness in this big person's eyes. he seems almost happy, which puzzles him a bit. ]

That is good to hear. I'd like to help, if I can, though I don't know how much good I will be able to give. Still, I will try.

[ he smiles politely, though his expression still confuses him. ]

Good to meet you, Jim, though our circumstances are certainly strange.

[ Aragorn is sitting a little way away from the bed, far away that the camera's movements will not catch him. When Frodo has finished speaking, he leans forward, elbows against knees. ]

Truth told, 'tis strange to see you without your loyal shadow, Frodo. [ He smiles gently. ] Though I do not believe Sam leaves you willingly.

[ that causes his expression to soften, fond and sad at once. ]

No, Sam would not be away from me by choice. Nor do I feel it would have taken him this long to have found me if he had not been here already. Still, I will look where I can.

[voice]

[This is the exact distraction that Joker needs from the scent of death that lingers around the shuttle bay.]

They're not here. At least. I haven't seen them. It's-- probably for the best, though, cause this place isn't exactly a party. It's better if they're home. They're safe there. [And frankly the ship could do without Gollum flipping out.] Well, actually, I guess safe's a relative term-- uh, anywhere. Not just for you guys.

[Seriously God a hobbit he's just sort of doing a little nerd dance in his seat.]

We haven't been home in some time.
[ and he is uncertain if he willl return home, despite aragorn's words. it's said quietly, distant even. his mind drifts to the shire and it's green hills. ]
At this point I would be glad to know that they're safe, even if I can't reach them now.

[ he blinks. that's an interesting name, but he has manners, so instead frodo says politely, ]

What is a 'Hobbit'?

To some we're called Halfings back at home. We have feet like this, that's one way to tell us apart from humans.
[ shows his feet, and well, his size is obvious. ]
We're hardly the size of the Big People. That's what we'd call you, and usually we don't concern ourselves with your affairs. Well, until recently. We live in the Shire, out of the way of the other races, though we aren't unfamiliar with them..

[ 'Get some sleep,' Brendan wants to say, bu then realizes the other curly haired brunette is most likely as tireless and stubborn as he is if he's run himself that ragged. That's when he hears the name. ]

Strider's Frodo?

Yes. I don't think there is another Frodo on this ship, if there is I've yet to find him.

[ give her a moment, she is quietly fangirling at the fact, a hobbit is now in this dream with them. ]

I can't say that I've heard the name Sam tossed around at all, Mr. Baggins. But I will gladly keep a lookout for them.

And I'm pretty sure, I haven't heard anything about Goll...[ a beat, quickly correcting herself. ] Smeagol.

[ a slight smile on her face, as she attempts to chew slightly on her lower lip. ]

As far as getting back? I can't say anyone has found any answers to that yet. But we are all trying. [ or at least she is. ]
