[After a moment's fiddling where muted swearing can be heard but precious little seen the feed flicks on to display one terribly bored looking tanned elf. Between the set of his jaw and the twist of his lips the displeasure he's been feeling for the last however long is quite visible, though he does his best to put on a charming smile for the ship.]

I know when we arrive on this very fine vessel we are given, without our consent, a mark for purposes in keeping tally of who is on the ship, translation, so on and so forth. And while it is a nicely done tattoo it is not precisely to my taste, mm?

[He turns his cheek to the camera, tracing a line up the black curves marked up from jaw to temple.]

These now, I like a great deal more and it makes me wonder if there is anyone else that would rather regain just a little bit of themselves by choosing a tattoo of their own design and placement to make up for what was graciously given without asking. I've skill and experience in the art and would be willing to lend my services to anyone interested.

My supplies at the moment are somewhat limited but depending upon what you would like done I am certain we could come to some sort of arrangement.

[Please. Someone. Anyone. It'll be something to do, some sort of project, something to focus on and while his expression is not quite pleading it is eager for some manner conversation centered around something he can understand for once.]

It feels too much like a brand- I know those who would wish lettering done in their tattoos but this is a bit literal for my liking, mm?

[He grins across the feed to Sigrun, someone who knew enough of his world but not at all of him; it made her safe company. Between that, her skill with blades, and her endless cheer she has fast become one of his favorite people on the ship.]

It may be better to start with the sparring session- a part of the process is a long bath to clean the skin, then a massage with fragrant oils to prepare it for the ink.

It's.. not as bad as my brand. But I don't let feeling like a slab of meat with numbers on my skin, either.

[ she leans her chin on a hand, and grins at him with her eyebrows raised. ]

A bath? Really? And a massage! That's a new one. Is it a new Antivan technique? Or are you looking to, erm, "pamper" me?

[ thank the ancestors that at least if this is a come-on, he has much, much more finesse than oghren. ]

Mhmmm. In rose water to open the pours and make them more receptive to the oil, which helps the ink set and the skin heal after the treatment. It is a very complicated, involved process but I do promise to be quite thorough.

Oh, I see, I see! Do I get to do this myself? Or..

[ she knew it! and she's amused. ]

You have me there. If it's that complicated, I guess you really have to do it. Of course I'll need to be completely naked, right? But that doesn't factor in to any thing at all.

[ stone but it's nice to joke around with some one who actually gets jokes. ]

[He sighs, as if this is a great burden that he must bear, witnessing her nakedness.]

But I can assure you that I will be the consummate professional. There shan't be a wandering hand or eye, no Ser.

[ she tries to put on a straight face. around him, it's a harder feat than it seems. ]

Where would your expert opinion think another marking would be best placed on my body?

Mmm. Perhaps a continuation of the mark of the Legion across your collarbones and shoulders? Unless you wished something smaller and more subtle then the traditional areas would be the upper arm or ankle. Unless you are feeling quite frisky- then the fine nightwalkers of Antiva have theirs made in the small of their back.

I think I'm feeling a little frisky. I'd sort of like some thing to honor the wardens. Their griffon emblem on the small of my back would be great.

[ not literally frisky! only in the context of where she'd like her tattoo. ]

Mmmm. Now that would be something. Set just a few inches above where the waistband of your trousers might be so that it is not so low as to make a tart of you, yes? I think that would be marvelous.

Can you fit me in to your schedule for today? The fight doesn't have to take long. Or we can even have a rematch in a few days. I wouldn't mind making these a regular thing.

Well I know several back home but none quite so pleasant or lovely.

The Gardens are nice and open, aside from the jungle. Why not there?

[ neither does she! she has never actually trained with wooden weapons, tbh. no time when there's always darkspawn to kill. ]

Oh, I know, I know. I'm a rose among dwarves. But, thank you. That is one of the nicest things any one has said about me.

[He cracks a warm, easy laugh. Having Sigrun as a companion truly made living on this ship a good deal brighter.]

They are quite lovely- even if they are quite filthy. Give me a warm bead and blazing hearth any day over a cold tent and campfire.

Ah, but the question is who gets the worst of them? The Dwarf? or the Spawn?

I'd never had either of those things until the Commander recruited me. I was more used to sharing cramped spaces around small fires. A warm bed isn't bad.

The ale is almost as nice a perk as the beds! Dwarven ale tastes like rat piss compared to what's brewed topside.

I knew it! I pretended to give in to his constant badgering once and he was speechless. It was a great moment.
