[ The woman on screen is glaring down at her arm, a hint of black – her number – visible as she shifts. ]

I’ve woken up in some weird places before, but this is definitely the weirdest. [ She thinks. Her memory is, at the moment, still a bit fuzzy thanks to whatever was in those tubes, the “stasis” – she’s trying not to think about all the things that could have been done to her while she was out. Tattooing was apparently one of them. ]

Also, I found this in what’s apparently my locker. [ Her hand opens, revealing a switchblade. ] It’s not mine, but I’ve seen it before. If you know who it belongs to [ and there is a faint note of hope in her voice; she may be in space but this belongs to her brother ] come and talk to me.

[ That should be the end of it -- almost is, in fact, her hand reaching to cut the connection, but then Jaye pauses. ] He's my brother. [ And then it cuts out. ]

[ There's a pause. Yes, the part of her that's still scared and sixteen wants to say, remembering the fire, their parents. They ran. Could they still be looking? Then there were people on the streets -- but neither of those make sense, not with the spaceship angle. ]

I don't know. [ It makes more sense for her, with her job, but she just doesn't know about Scott. ]

So they just picked you out at random.

As far as I know, I'd be more worthwhile to them than he would. But like I said... I haven't seen him in years.

[coarse]

[Silence. He's running on the assumption that both he and Bonnie were taken together, not only because her power makes her more valuable, but also because the thought that she might not be here just makes things a lot worse for both of them. Especially for her, if she has to be alone.]

... My sister would be more worthwhile to them than me.

Really, my boss would be more worthwhile than me, but I doubt they could control him. [ You don't control Coyote. ]

[ it's almost ridiculous how he picks up on that small note of hope in her voice. he's familiar with that sound and he's had it himself time and time again. if there's no hope, then what is there? ]

Your brother is missing?

[ She swallows, looking down at the blade in her hand for a moment before looking back at the screen. ]

He has been for a few years, technically. This knife -- he always had it on him. He had it on him when he disappeared. And now it's here.

It is cruel to offer such a tease upon your arrival. [ he can't even imagine what it would have been like to show up here with something of loki's in his locker. it probably would have devastated him. especially now. ]

As if it is not bad enough to be ripped from our homes, but to rub salt in the wound is unforgivable.

His hair is darker than mine -- more brown than blonde. He has blue eyes.

[ Jaye shakes her head again. ]

I haven't seen him in so long and I don't have a picture from before, so that's... really all I know for sure. [ And it had been terrifying, to wake up one day and realize that she was losing the details in her mental picture of her brother's face. ]

... His name's Scott, though. And I'm Jaye.

[ he nods slowly, carefully. it's not much to go on, that's for sure, but even so. something like this is important and he'll keep the information squirreled away—just in case. ]

I will keep my eyes and ears opened for you. [ and then he offers just a slight smile, head inclined in a slight bowing gesture ] Unfortunate we meet under these circumstances, but it is a pleasure all the same. I am Thor, son of Odin.

Thank you. [ She doesn't quite return the smile, but that is, to be fair, mostly because her eyes have suddenly widened. ]

You're Thor? [ Impossible, but then the gods have been known to wear different faces on her world, switching to what suits them best and what will let them blend in the most. ] I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you-- Are you-- Do you have carers, or are you a different thunder god than the one I have met?
