[ It takes Peter a second after he's turned his phone on to give it the direct look he means to -- he's still not used to the thing yet. Or public speaking. ]

I already got the rundown on all of this, but i've got a question for anyone. Everyone.

Who here's actually talked to the Captain? [ He pauses for a second like he's waiting for an actual response. ] Is he really the only one who gets to decide who gets dragged onto this.. ship? Because i've been hunted down by the government once already and woken up somewhere I didn't plan on being, and if this has something to do with that--

[ Getting a little too irritated sounding, he sighs, taking another second. ]

Just have a hard time believing that the guy who flies this is the only one that decides who gets on this thing. It can't be that simple. [ Just like he's still having a hard time believing he's in space but... that's all he's got for right now. ]

[ Alex knows hunted by the government - well, do an extent. He knows having missiles launched at him and hiding from the CIA, which was, and still is, his primary concern about all this. So he's pinged. ]

Doubt it is. I haven't found anyone with answers yet, though.

[ You and him both, considering he was on the run from the government and Danko's shoot to kill policy on his head, before he showed up here. It's made him just a little bit paranoid. ]

All i've heard is that the Captain isn't exactly the easiest guy to get in touch with.

Shouldn't he have an office or something? What's stopping us from hunting him down?

[ Alex hasn't quite explored the ship yet, so he hasn't fully realized how very huge it is. He's also from the 60s, so what are doors that can't just be plasma-blasted through? ]

As far as I know, absolutely nothing.

[ Ohh, great, now Peter's gonna get all geared up to go looking for this guy. And probably get himself extremely lost and incredibly pissed off. Except... ] People've been here for months though, can't imagine that's never been tried before.

He doesn't decide on us. They don't even know exactly how we get here. They think it's something broken in the jump drive. Last I heard, anyway.

Guess people are getting mixed messages. So you heard it was the ship's fault, huh.

They don't talk to us as much as they used to. Makes chinese whispers easy.

Information changing slightly as it gets spread around? Until the end of the line doesn't sound anything like the beginning.

And the longer people're here, the more rumors there're probably gonna be.

Never heard it called telephone before. Lots of people from different places here. And there's a lot of talking. Not much else for some people to do.

Ain't no one's seen the Captain, mate. I ain't head a word from him since I arrived.

He talked to you when you got here?

And the people who don't talk as much?

Mostly scientists. People who have been in space before. There's a load of things that need fixing.

[ There's a pause on his own end as he asses the words, curious about the whole government topic but taking pause, and politeness, before he continued on with the first topic at hand. ]

I've not heard anything from the Captain, myself, though from what I've heard no one seems to know why we're here-- I wish I could tell you more but I've only just arrived myself.

Unless somebody's holding out on me, the captain's playing a pretty great game of Hide and Seek. Minus the seeking.

Starting to sound like it isn't just you. Captain's holding out on all of us.

[ He sighs, frustrated without a suitable outlet for it. ] There's gotta be some kind of reason for it.

On the ship? That's comforting.

Captain's a busy man. [doing what is what Jim would like to know. he's getting frustrated, but at least he saw Resnik.] I spoke to him when we arrived, and to be honest, he doesn't seem any happier than we are that we're here.

Seriously? Not the story I heard when I first got here. [ Excuse Peter while he just.. rubs his face with an exaggerated sigh. What he wanted was at least two people to agree on a story at this point. ]

But I think i've got a different one of those from every single person i've talked to.

[it's pretty funny to Jim, but he can't blame anyone. everyone from second jump onward hasn't seen hide nor tail of the guy.]

What've you heard?

[ Peter's just learning that space is the best place to start a rumor mill. And information gathering isn't his strong suit. ]

That he's the one who picks who shows up on the ship, that nobody's seen the Captain, that the ship's broken and it's the one doing the grabbing. Maybe when I hear the same thing from two different people i'll believe that one.

That sounds promising.
