1 - Audio

[The audio pops on and, without waiting overly long, a man starts to speak.]

This isn’t. Quite what I expected. Where is this?

… Is anyone actually here?

[He’s not exactly one for beating around the bush. Not when he can help it, anyway.
Also, if this is Peragus all over again, he’s going to scream. He cannot deal with dead silent empty places that should be teeming with people right now.]

Life goes on. I guess it's good we have a veteran, then.

[can you hear the smile? Because he's got one.]

Well, I wasn't human until I onlin- woke up here. I'm not sure what droids are though, and none of the others had my ability. Did you have a reason for asking?

At least you're proof that someone can get out of weird situations alive.

Talking to machines? Or machines in general.

I don't think that matters.

[Don't stop his optimism, man.]

I'm not too surprised. Are you a mechanic?

I'm a Weapons/System Designer- I take the inventions of engineers and scientists and fix them up so everyone else can use them. I can also, as you've noticed, talk to any non-sentient machine.

What sort of machines are you used to? You don't seem to be having any problems with the comms, but you mentioned droids? [The things you said were like him! He wants to meet them!]

It's been useful.

Organic species don't usually have words to describe droids or any machine lifeforms that don't have connotations. Then, many Cybertronians view organic lifeforms the same way.

Robotic organisms from the planet Cybertron. Sentient robotic organisms. We've only encountered humans recently.

Their responses were mixed, but I suppose that's common with humans or any sentient race. Some believe we can't actually think like we claim we can, but not all, and most that do still think we're going to take over or destroy their planet. The governments are the worst, but I think that's more because we inconvenience them than anything. [he sounds amused]

Then again, Soundwave was knighted by the Queen of England. I take it you don't know any sentient mechanical lifeforms aside from your own droids?

That's a shame. I'd like to meet a droid. Let me guess - they start out very function-oriented and devoted to their place in society, and it's only when they've had time to live a little that they start individualizing and opening up to new ideas?

[That sounded so much like many young Cybertronians he's known. Which aren't many (slagging war) but still.]

You might not want to meet half the population of my species. I think that's a risk with sentient beings no matter where they come from.
