Well, this isn't the first time I've ended up in a tank with no idea how I got there, really... Just not quite like this. Well. Exactly like this.

The people are a change of pace, though.

That sounds like a story I'd like to hear some time.

If you ask nicely enough I might, some time.

I have. More than a few, in fact.

What's your station?

Former General, with the Galactic Republic Military, but it's been a while. I'm currently the owner - and Captain, I suppose - of a small transport ship called the Ebon Hawk.

[By which he technically means smuggling ship, but no one needs to know that.]

What about you?

[mentally, he quickly goes through all known interstellar armies that he knows- but he comes up blank. different universe, then.]

Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, flagship of the Starfleet Federation. I've never heard of the Galactic Republic Military. So either we haven't discovered you yet or we're from totally different places.

[He does pretty much the same thing on his end and comes to the same conclusion.]

It's probably different places. I'm not familiar with any section of the galaxy governed by a Starfleet Federation. And most of the known galaxy is part of the Republic.

Have you heard of Klingons? Or Romulans? [those are the only other huge empires he can think of, since nearly every other peaceful planet is part of the Federation.]

This is the first time I've heard them mentioned. Are you familiar with the Sith? [They'd had no small amount of power in the galaxy while he was away. Worth a shot.]

No.

Thought of something, have you?

I get the impression we've both pointed out powers that are in charge of most of our respective galaxies, and yet neither of us have heard of the other.

We have, and they haven't. Though that would not be unusual, for mine; we don't venture past the boundaries of out galaxy. It's too dangerous. But if yours has gone out of your galaxy...

[Well. It's a big universe, but still.]

[he hums, considering this. it's true, they haven't been passed the Galatic Barrier as far as he knows.]

Does the Milky Way ring any bells?

[Even going past the borders of the Outer Rim into the Unknown Regions can be hairy, as far as he knows.]

Yeah, you can blame that on our ancestors.

[He chuckles.]

Ancestors can be blamed for a lot of things, like that.

[Like whoever decided 'Dxun' was a good, pronounceable name.]

I'm sure we could spend the next year talking about their crazy decisions. At the very least.
