This isn’t. Quite what I expected. Where is this?

This isn't quite my first time being in circumstances similar to this, I'm afraid.

Federation, I believe would be the most appropriate descriptor.
Should I understand that you believe you have been abducted?

Not necessarily abducted, no. But a similar series of events have happened to me in recent history that led to me waking up in a tank in a strange place.

And the outcome thereof?

An entire asteroid field... might have gotten blown up. But everyone that was alive escaped before that occurred.

This was a direct result of your actions?

The direct result of a hostile cruiser firing at my vessel and missing, actually. My ship didn't fire a single shot. The rescue of those that were living was my doing, however.

[ well, those two words certainly encompass a whole hell of a lot. none of which is elaborated upon, of course. what he doesn't say, however, and very likely should, is that his curiosity often gets the better of him. that he may well be prying. but such limitations are, ultimately, entirely unconsidered- especially given that spock's attention does not yet drift from the communicator in his palm. ]

Am I to understand that you are involved in a military conflict of some kind in your native continuum?

[It's not exactly the most simple situation to discuss, really. Even if he has a better understanding of what it is now.But he doesn't mind trying to explain it the best he can.]

Not a military conflict, precisely. More of a conflict between two different philosophical groups that have been trying to wipe each other out for a very long time.

But you have become involved in one side of this altercation and thus experienced your captivity for that reason?

I have, yes. It was inevitable, really, as I had once belonged to the side I chose to represent again.

May I request the divulging of specifics?

Of course. Both sides were concerned about how to harness and use the Force, a... life energy in the galaxy that flows through all things. One side, the Jedi, thought it best harnessed by a calm mind, uninfluenced by emotions. The other, the Sith, thought that strong negative emotions like rage and hate offered more control of it.

I am - or was, anyway - on the side of the Jedi, before I was expelled from their Order five years ago.

Expelled?

I was cast out and exiled, after I defied the Jedi Council to help save the Republic from a - very military - threat.

[A very long and complicated story, really, but he's trying for the short, short version of why everyone calls him Exile.]
