after seeing that last post, was thinking of the disappearances in general.
not just the handful that have also vanished without a trace recently.

just worried that people have been a little too quick to assume that everyone vanishing are going home, even if that's what the ship did each jump when it was still spacefaring.

so does anyone have other theories as to where people have been going?

home after all? taken? obsolete?

perhaps our "friends" in the jungle may have an idea?

A theory would require support. Do we have any, aside from the existence of possibilities?

don't know. hence the asking if anyone has any ideas, or if they've thought to investigate a pattern.

The problem is always the inability to compel participation. Still, if we want more than endless conjecture, incomplete data is better than no data at all.

As far as I can tell, a few people typically seem to vanish about twenty days or so after the jump alarms... but less often with the jump alarms than they used to, and that's far from the only time.

it is a problem. too many questions, not enough data.
for all we know the people who are gone somehow managed to make it past the perimeter. or dead. or taken. or all of the above.

you would probably know better. don't really spend much time around the base camp to keep track.
could use some help with recording a frequent headcount.
make sure who all keep coming and going.

it isn't the only time people have vanished without a trace.
supposedly the old crew had been gone for about four weeks prior to the first jump, before people from different worlds started coming in.
they were gone, but we were able to find them, and now they're here.

the same thing could still be happening.

Do you mean to suggest the rotation is deliberate, then, rather than a malfunction?

it ironically makes more sense than the possibility that people are just going poof for no reason.

Too many possibilities to settle on any one thing. 'Not safe' is probably the safest answer.

it's certainly not safe.
though if we maintain a "buddy system" again, made sure that no one is alone for any long period of time, we may either be able to prevent a disappearance or someone can see what happens if/when one vanishes.

but that's relying on a great deal of unanimous cooperation.

We need to know exactly how many people we have in and out of camp at any given time. We're disorganized.

same, with similar amount of luck.
have a few, but not all of them. think it's about time we collect a census every jump to keep track of who's coming and going.

been busy with enough these days.

I'm worried they were taken beyond the tether by someone who can cross but that notion is fucking intolerable.
